Keep Rossmoor Safe - Slow your roll to 25 MPH
Hi
Most people already seem to be on holiday weekend mode, so let's start the weekend talk off now.
The weather looks like it will be mid-70's now through Monday. Near perfect for your 4th of July long weekend plans and outdoor activities.
With folks heading out of town, we want to remind you that the OCSD will keep an eye on your place while your away if you call them and ask for a Vacation Check. They will ask you some questions when you call in, so here's a list of what to be ready for when you call. It's a free service and it likely gets more patrol cars
on your street. A win-win.
We will be talking water and water conservation most likely thought the end of the year as our water levels are seriously low across the southwest. Today, we are starting with an estimated usage calculator.
How Much Water Do You Use?
We all know where we are going to end up...Rossmoor is committed to conserving water during this drought period, and forming sustainable habits, moving forward. This is the destination. Even if we'd like to protest it, we know it's the right thing to do for our world.
Yet in order to know where we are going, it's always good to know where we are. Here is a water calculator that generalizes how water much water we use in our daily patterns.
Start here for a glimpse on how your lifestyle habits influence the water you use. Don't worry or compare - never worry, but we will build ways to improve, if necessary. It's a starting point.
Interesting to note: Landscaping watering consumes approximately 60% of household usage. We think you will actually be surprised at how much you already do right -- and that deserves a high-five.Go see how you're doing.
Pets & The July 4th Holiday Weekend
We can't start the reminders about the holidays soon enough. In addition to pets, some people are sensitive to the noises associated with Independence Day fireworks, so we wanted to alert you to what to expect in and around Rossmoor.
While fireworks can be purchased in some of our neighboring communities, they cannot be legally set off in our Rossmoor.
The good news is that we do not have to go far from home to enjoy them - if that is how you celebrate. Just a friendly reminder to be a good neighbor and please do not light personal fireworks in Rossmoor.
Please note, almost every year, there are comments about the Independence Day Celebration that Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach hosts, prior to the 4th of July. Many are unaware that is a legally permitted display, put on by the Country Club for its members.
Please plan accordingly, if noise is an issue for you. Their fireworks, starting around dusk on Friday July 1st, will run for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
As of June 26th, Rossmoor moved into Stage 2 of the California Mandatory Water Conservation & Rationing plan. There's more information here on our site but here's a summary of what this means:
We are adding water conservation resources and tools to our Rossmoor Water Story page. Lear about where our water comes from and some tips on tracking your conservation efforts.
