Update on the County's General Plan

This is a follow-up to our earlier post, announcing the County’s public review period for updating their General Plan, required by every county and municipality every
8 years. Because of many changes to State law, this particular
review had a lot of things to consider. In an effort to not confuse our residents, we purposefully kept our comments brief, yet the RHA President, Art Remnet reached out to our County Supervisor representative, Andrew Do to get answers on the few parts of the plan that could be pertinent to Rossmoor.

Remember, we all share the road. Parents, the video isn’t jazzy, but sit down with
your riders. This 10-minute video review of responsible riding (plus your understanding of e-bikes) goes a long way to making our residents and riders safer. Watch it with your riders – it’s a small trade-off in allowing them to own and ride an e-bike, considering the added risks. Also, remember that OurRossmoor Parks are
not approved roadways for e-bikes, and riders are subject to being ticketed – just as is the case when violating any roadway laws.

While November is a while off still, our Meet Your Candidates Night is just over five weeks away. The candidates for each of the five races that directly represent Rossmoor are set (see the list here) and between now and election day on Tuesday November 8th, we will be assembling information on each of the candidates so you can both get to know them a little better and determine who you feel will best represent your interests in the next term of office. Our Meet Your Candidates Night Town Hall this year
is on Thursday, September 29th in the Rush Park Auditorium. We plan to begin at 6:30 p.m. And prior to the Town Hall we will be posting the answers to the questions you share with us. Some will be submitted to the candidates as written questions and others will be used during the live Town Hall event. Now is the time to start submitting your questions. We will be inviting candidates for the 45th US Congressional District, 36th State Senate District, 70th State Assembly District, Los Alamitos Unified School District Trustee Area 3, and the Rossmoor Community
Services District to attend. Because of the redistricting, most of the seats do not have an incumbent running for re-election. At this time, only LAUSD Trustee Diana Hill and RCSD Director Jeffrey Rips are running for re-election to their current district and office. E-Recycling At Rossmoor School On Sunday, August 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Rossmoor School is hosting a free TV and computer recycling event. If you have any of these items you'd like to dispose of properly, stop by and drop them off. Plus you will be supporting the students who go to Rossmoor School at the same time.
