Today the weather has been  petty nice out there. Sunny and warm but not hot. Maybe a little more humidity than we are used to though.

The National Weather Service has issued the following heat advisory for our area:

Dangerously hot and humid conditions with temperatures
in the 80s at the beaches and 90 to 95 for locations just inland
from the immediate coast possible for Coastal Orange County areas from Tuesday morning through Sunday evening. Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Humidity will be high as well, making it
feel even hotter than the actual air temperatures. Lows temperatures will only fall into the 70 to 75 degree range each night.

Please take necessary precautions this week and stay cool and safe.

Candidate Questions

RCSD Committee Meetings 

Rossmoor's Community Service District (RCSD) is holding three committee meetings this Wednesday (8/31). All committee meetings are open to the public to attend:

• An Ad-hoc Traffic/Safety Advisory meeting (Directors DeMarco and Searles) at ROSSMOOR PARK COMMUNITY CENTER on Wednesday 8/31 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss a proposed ordinance for street parking in Rossmoor.  Here is the agenda for the meeting.
• Personnel and Contracts Committee meeting (Directors Nitikman & Rips) will be meeting On Wednesday (8/31) 8:00 a.m. at RUSH PARK AUDITORIUM to discuss the existing status of RCSD contracts and status of their personnel hiring efforts. Meeting Agenda here.
• Budget Committee meeting (Directors Nitikman & Rips) will follow the Personnel and Contracts meeting at 8:30 a.m. also in the RUSH PARK AUDITORIUM to discuss implementation of the RCSD's accounting software system. Meeting Agenda here

Note that the RCSD Ad-hoc Traffic/Safety meeting is at ROSSMOOR PARK rather than the normal Rush Pak facility.

While November is a while off still, our Meet Your Candidates Night is just over five weeks away. 

The candidates for each of the five races that directly represent Rossmoor are set (see the list here) and between now and election day on Tuesday November 8th, we will be assembling information on each of the candidates so you can both get to know them a little better and determine who you feel will best represent your interests in the next term of office.

Our Meet Your Candidates Night Town Hall this year is on Thursday, September 29th in the Rush Park Auditorium. We plan to begin at 6:30 p.m. And prior to the Town Hall we will be posting the answers to the questions you share with us. Some will be submitted to the candidates as written questions and others will be used during the live Town Hall event.

Now is the time to start submitting your questions.

We will be inviting candidates for the 45th US Congressional District, 36th State Senate District, 70th State Assembly District, Los Alamitos Unified School District Trustee Area 3, and the Rossmoor Community Services District to attend. 

Because of the redistricting, most of the seats do not have an incumbent running for re-election. At this time, only LAUSD Trustee Diana Hill and RCSD Director Jeffrey Rips are running for re-election to their current district and office.
