Keep Rossmoor Safe - Slow your roll to 25 MPH
Hi
We should be seeing near 70 degree days from now through the weekend. Near perfect days for getting out and about.
This also means that it's going to be a beautiful Thursday afternoon for our
Rossmoor Farmers Market. Join us from 4 to 7. The food is terrific and the community is popping in for fresh veggies and drinks. We hope to see you there!
Housing Element Changes Impacting Rossmoor
There are a number of mandatory Housing Element changes that are in process in Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, and the County that will have a direct impact on the areas in and around Rossmoor.
We are creating a clearinghouse of information to help you understandwhat is happening and why. It's important for Rossmoor residents to be aware of these changes and relevant factors to better enable the community to influence a positive outcome for Rossmoor when projects are proposed. Have
questions or want to know more? Check out our pageand post any questions
there.

What Do You Know About the Coyote Creek Watershed?
It's been a little hard getting many interested in our local watershed and
the part it plays in our community and the beaches at Seal. Now that we've had a little rain, we wanted to re-introduce our Coyote Creek Watershed to everyone - the big picture.Enjoy.
Here's an idea! Join with the rest of our nation to honor Rosa Parks and
celebrate Transit Equity Day in Orange County with FREE bus transit. I can't think of a better way to honor the beginnings of America's Civil Rights movement, than to honor the mode of transit that put the issue front and center. In many ways, our transit system is OC's "hidden gem" and yet so many of us have never boarded one. Here's your chance!
How about considering planning a own "field trip" - the OCTA Route 50 runs along Katella (there is a stop at Katella and Wallingsford) - and is an easy commute to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Center (ARTIC), with connections to
Metro (that are also offering Free rides on Saturday.
Some of us in the know, recognize it from trips to Honda Center or Angel Stadium. Others enjoy connecting at ARTIC for day trips on Amtrak or Metro to SoCal's
historic destinations, like the Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Another option: OCTA Route 42 moves along Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Blvd. for a short trip to the beach. Think about taking a short bus ride to Seal Beach, without worrying about traffic or parking. Old Town has some great breakfast,
brunch and lunch spots - or heck, grab a cuppa Joe at Bogarts, and a stroll along the pier
OC Boards, Commissions, & Committees
Sometimes, the best way to understand our government and how it works is to become a part of the work and processes that guide the decisions.
Here's a place where many OC residents begin their involvement. Many of these
positions are appointed and advisory in nature. These people work together with county staff to help the county decision makers. For example, are you interested in Animal Care Outreach, Assessment Appeals, Campaign Finance & Ethics, the John Wayne Airport Arts, or our Orange County Parks? This is the place to start. The Youth Center Leadership Council is putting on a student led workshop (February 9th & 16th from 4:00 to 5:30) that covers the secrets to moving from middle school to high school. This innovative program has been created by The Youth Center's Leadership Council to pass along the tips and tricks they picked up while making the leap to high school. This $149 program will set
your son or daughter up for success at Los Al or any other high school. There are a limited number of 75% scholarships available (the full scholarships seem to be gone already), just sign up here.
A tip if
the hat to Rossmoor's own Ally Hatakeyama who imagined the Youth Leadership Council and is the current president.
