The rain is back tonight and into tomorrow (Monday) with our skies clearing in hte afernoon and evening. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be mostly sunny, with a slight chance of Thursday morning rain ahead of a nice weekend.
Regular Sweeping
Street sweeping will be on the regular schedule - ODD addresses swept on Monday and EVEN addresses swept on Tuesday. Please move vehicles and waste carts from the curb so the sweeper can have a clear path to sweep. Thanks!
Happy MLK Day
Monday is Martin Luther King Day here in the US. While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change. His
example is our call to action. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. In this spirit, we'd like to ask, what can you do to improve our community? Something to think about.
Rossmoor Farmers Market - Thursday
The Rossmoor Farmers Market was great
last week. We are expecting even more vendors to be there this Thursday between 4 and 7 in Rush Park. Come join the fun and finally see who won our ugly sweater contest!

View U Program
“It's more than what you see,” shared Sarah, a 12 year old participant at The Youth Center. “I might be smiling and you might mistake me for a
happy teenager, but deep inside I struggle with insecurities, hurt, and fear.” For the last 2 years, The Youth Center has been working with licensed clinician, Tara Farajian, and Cal State Long Beach on developing a program that can help
teens like Sarah. Starting in January of 2023 the program View U is coming to Los Alamitos, California. The program is open to all 6th-8th graders that need extra support in overcoming emotional obstacles. Scholarships are still available. Additional details here
There’s no question that the pandemic has been hard on children, whether or not their schools have reopened. A flood of research in recent months has found alarming spikes in depression and anxiety among children and their parents.
Parents in our wonderful community reached out to us for help so we designed a program that can improve mental health for our
youth.
View U program provides opportunities for youth to use their time in positive ways, identify and cope with problems, build self-esteem, peer leadership skills, bullying prevention activities, and mentorship opportunities. This program will serve more than 500 youth annually.
View U, is a program designed to connect and empower youth through interactive therapeutic workshops, and provide them opportunities to look deeper into themselves, learn more positive lifestyles, and enhance their capacity to make healthier life choices.
If you have a 6th to 8th grade student, consider plugging them into the View U program. Connecting with their peers is a very good thing.
