Hi
Rain or shine the sweepers will be here on Monday and Tuesday this week. Please make sure your curbs are clear of vehicles and waste carts on the day your side of the street is swept.
Speaking of rain - yes indeed, Monday evening
and much of Tuesday will be rainy. It could extend into the first part of Wednesday as well. PLEASE make sure your sprinklers are off. Trust me, your yard and plants are plenty wet enough. Likely for the next month.
Do You Like to Gamble?
What if I told you you could gamble right here in Rossmoor? Well you can. The Youth Center is holding
their annual Casino Night on Friday, March 31st at Rush Park. Another rain or shine event (of course, it's inside the auditorium) where you can help support kids in our area through The Youth Center. Get your tickets right here and plan on a great night!
Today is Global Recycling Day
With today being Global Recycling Day, we are beginning OurRossmoor’s Earth Awareness campaign. Over the
next month leading up to Earth Day and Arbor Day, let’s focus our efforts on small ways to make a bigger difference in our neighborhoods and the world.
After all, Rossmoor is a nationally recognized Tree City USA Community! (Keep your eyes peeled for new acknowledgment signs in Rossmoor going up, very soon.)
We also want to remind everyone that Our Rossmoor’s next RHA Shredding Event is on
SATURDAY, APRIL 29TH (we’ll remind you again, but feel free to put it on your calendar now.)
Expanded Tutoring Program: Jobs & Better Grades
The Youth Center’s after-school tutoring program teaches kids from TK to eighth grade in subjects from
English to math to science. Recently, the program expanded by adding another tutor, so multiple sessions can run in the same time slot. This allows more kids access tutoring so they don’t fall behind close to the end of the school year.
“Everyone needs a little extra support sometimes, and we at The Youth Center are here to provide that,” said Janae Roberts, Youth Programs Supervisor.
Each 30-minute tutoring session costs $15, and tutors are available Monday through Friday from 2:30-6 p.m. at the Youth Center or their Rossmoor Park location.
“We're always looking for new hires and kids that are interested,” said
Johnny Flaim, the Youth Center’s Tutor Lead.
So if you know of a elementary or middle school student that might need a
little boost OR a high school/college student who would like a paid position to help the the Tk-8th grade students, please contact The Youth Center (562.493-4043) or email Janae Roberts (janae@theyouthcenter.org)
