Keep Rossmoor Safe - Slow your roll to 25 MPH
Hi,
It looks like the week will be cooler but it's not clear how much cooler it will be after Sunday. Low to mid 80s seems to be the average between the various services I checked. It's pretty clear
that next weekend will be hotter than the weekdays.
School Starts
Wednesday
That's right Weaver starts school on Wednesday 8/2 and Rossmoor, Lee and Hopkinson Schools start back on Monday August 14th. Please plan for some additional congestion around our schools (and allot a few extra minutes for your trips) over the next month or so...We've got this
Rossmoor!
This Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month and that means the EVEN sides of the streets in Rossmoor will be swept. The odd sides will get to wait until next week.
The big news is that according to the CSD, ticketing will resume on Tuesday as well. Please make sure your vehicle(s) are not parked on the EVEN side of the
street on Tuesday. No one wants a citation. Just do the right thing and move your vehicle.
Moon Pie Ride on Tuesday
That's right, next Tuesday (August 1st) is a full moon and we will be riding from Rush to Polly's Pies starting at 8:00 p.m. Hope you can come join us for a fun ride through Rossmoor. See you at 8 or Tuesday night.

Recap of the July 6th Traffic meeting....
On Thursday, July 6th, our Community Services
District (CSD) hosted Orange County Traffic
Engineer Wei Zhu to give the neighborhood an update on the Montecito traffic survey that the county has been working on over the past few months. The update addressed both
vehicular and bicycle modes of transportation along the corridor and the related parking issues.A recap of the meeting and an invite to the September 12th update update is here.
Given the community's interest, we will run a series of periodic articles about the topic. Please feel free to contact us (or just reply to this email) with questions or topics you'd like to know more about, and we will add them to our topic
list.
Sharrows, pictured to the right first appeared in Rossmoor in 2019 when the county decided that they would enhance bike safety along Foster.
According to Bicylce.com "Sharrows first appeared in the US in Denver in the 1990s, but the word itself (a portmanteau of “share” and “arrow”)
was coined in San Francisco in the early 2000s. The term has been included in the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices—the traffic engineer’s bible—since 2009."
A sharrow is not a bike lane, as it does not create road space nominally reserved for bicycles. Instead, it is meant to be used in situations where cyclists and drivers must coexist in the same lane.
Next
time out we'll talk about the types of e-bikes and some of the rules around them.
Thursday July 20th is the next Los Al Concert - this time at Little Cottonwood Park with local favorite Woodie & The Longboards. This Beach Boys tribute band will play from 6:30 to 8:00. A great time to escape to the park for some good music and you can grab some food and enjoy a dance (or just watch those that do - it's all good)! It's free. See you
there!
Seal Beach Concert Series - Wednesdays
Wednesdays from July 5th to August 9th Eisenhower Park in Seal Beach (that's by the SB Pier off Main Street), will host six great local bands of talented musicians and acts on those hot summer nights! Come
join the fun from 6:00-8:00 p.m. each week. It's free.
