Hey,

After a very mild weekend our temperatures are about to move back into the mid and upper 80s this week, with Wednesday and Thursday projected to be close to 90 degrees.

The Our Rossmoor Farmers Market should benefit from the warm afternoon/early evening. Come out and visit the Market and catch up with your neighbors.

Street Sweeping Monday & Tuesday!

It's that time again - Street Sweeping! 😀 Yes, this Monday (ODD Addresses) and Tuesday (EVEN Addresses) will be swept and parking enforcement will be in place all day. But the real reason to move your vehicles isn't to not get a ticket. Nope, it's to help keep our environment and beaches clean. Please do your part. Thanks!

Test of the Emergency Alert System on October 4th

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) Wednesday, October 4.

The WEA portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. The EAS portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions.

Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 11:20 a.m. here in Rossmoor. More information here.

E-Bike Information & Updates

Our Sheriff's Department along with the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) want to remind parents that there are a lot of great resources available to find out more about e-bikes and how to safely operate them.

The OCTA recently published a new streamlined resource page to find out more about e-bikes. It's a great summary for all riders and drivers. It's worth goin there to watch the adventures of Goodboy Noah. Here's the link

OCSD Deputies Respond Quickly

From the OCSD: "At about 6:39 pm, Saturday evening, Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of Loch Lomond Rd. reference to a shooting. Two adult male suspects were taken to the hospital. This appears to be an isolated incident, no outstanding suspects, and the investigation is ongoing."

According to the call logs, the response time was an amazing 3 minutes. A big THANK YOU to the Deputies of the OCSD North Patrol for their service to Rossmoor and their public updates, even late on a weekend night.

OC Ready To React

Learning simple things to do in an emergency is the easiest way to be prepared. Take a moment to discover the best ways to use your cell phones in an emergency.

According to a FEMA 2021 national poll, while 92 percent of respondents were aware of the importance of preparedness, only 44 percent claimed to be prepared.

Last Chance - Rotary Wine & Dine Saturday 10/7

Join our local Los Al, Cypress & Seal Beach Rotary Club in raising funds for area non-profits while enjoying a fun evening of wine tasting and dining at On The Greens at the Navy Golf Course on Saturday, October 7th, starting at 5:30. It's a mostly casual evening of good food, live music and community leaders working to support the local organizations that do so much for all of us.

With the first day of fall this past Saturday, September 23rd, we thought it would be fun (and informative) to let you know that your fall leaves belong in the GREEN lid, organics container where they will be turned to compost. Orange County Older Adults Needs Assessment

The County office on Aging continues to work proactively on an emerging need - our senior population. It is no secret that the largest segment of our population, the last of baby boomers are well over 55, and the county is preparing for their physical and mental yearly needs and general quality of life.

In fact, about 1/3 of Rossmoor's current population are seniors, and census projections expect this percentage to grow over the next 10 years. That's not the number of seniors, it's the percentage of seniors!

Please help the County, as they develop long range plans to help meet our needs. The survey will only take a few minutes of your time. You can take the survey here.

These surveys do more than make suggestions. They guide the county as they seek to secure grants and funding for the services that we deem important.
