Hey, As projected last week, our temperatures will settle into the upper 70s for the most part this week. A few evenings will even drop into the high 50's which is great sleeping
weather. Tomorrow (Monday, October 9th), is Indigenous Peoples' Day here in the Untied States. The day celebrates and honors indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. Take a few minutes to discover more
about the First Nations People who inhabited these lands we call home, long before the Spanish came to "settle" them.

OCFA Fire Station Open Houses |
This Saturday, October 14, 2023, our very own OC Fire Authority celebrates the end of Fire Prevention Week with open houses at 28 of the 78 fires houses that protect more than 2 million residents here in Orange County. At the open houses, residents will learn how the fire stations operate, meet-and-greet with local firefighters and much
more. Rossmoor residents can join in on this fun and educational OCFA event at the two stations that cover most of the Rossmoor calls for service each month - and there are hundreds of them!: - Station 2 — 3642 Green Avenue, Los
Alamitos.
- Station 48 — 3131 North Gate Road, Seal Beach.
The OCFA Open Houses take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14th.

Wimbleton Holds NW Gathering |
The terrific people on Wimbleton and the surrounding area added themselves to the list of group that have held Neighborhood Watch Block Gatherings. Thanks so much to Block Captain Sherry for hosting and arranging the event - and to all those who stopped by to hear an update from OCSD Captain Patella and get some questions about coverage, e-bikes, and recent events in Rossmoor. One
of the main messages is that if you see something that's odd, or raises the hair on your neck, call the OCSD at 714-647-7000 (press 1 for English and 9 for dispatch) and tell them. A deputy will be dispatched based on urgency (if it's a crime or you're in danger call 911) and check things out for you. Keep Rossmoor safe, call the OCSD - they are asking you to. Help them help us. The terrific crew from OCFA Engine 2 out of Los Alamitos also
joined the gathering. We heard about how to be more prepared for emergencies, how valuable attending a local CERT Training is for residents (more on that here), and learned about coverage in Rossmoor. It was a great afternoon and many of the neighbors hung around for some food and beverages while they caught up and got to know each
other a little better. If you or your block think you might want like to schedule a gathering, please reach out to us and we will get you the details and answer any of your questions. Contact us here or reply to this email.

Friday was the last of our annual Grab-n-Go Lunches for our 4 Rossmoor elementary schools, which is one of our favorite times of the year. All too often, we forget that cars, congestion, delays, etcetera, only happen because of everything we have that is great
-- schools, administrators who put their all into everything they do, teachers, who have smiles on their faces and are "all-in" no matter how tired they may be. Rossmoor Schools - planned and built, as part of our community - not as an add-on, but originally envisioned as being part of us. Please, never forget how special and unique this is. Over the past few weeks, we met with
custodians, tech teachers, steam instructors, special ed, speech pathologists, crossing guards, cafeteria workers, and many, many others whose roles slipped thru, as they came into their lunch rooms for us to serve them. We consider it selfish, as we get to see their magic. Four days, 300+ sandwiches, and more love than we could handle. #ourrossmoor, rest assured - our students are in great hands. Those who have students
in our schools already know this. Those whose children have graduated and moved on, will testify to this. And those whose littles are waiting their turns -- oh, just wait - you're in for a real treat.
Where Does It Go?

We don't know about you, but as simple as some like it to sound, it's not easy. What EXACTLY goes where? The Our Rossmoor Team reached out to OC Waste and Recycling and found this nifty site to help guide our disposables into the right bins, buckets, trucks, or whatever. The menu on the
left side of the page also has the same info in a downloadable document for those who like doing things with a "real book" to flip thru - download it if you must, but if you can, use it digitally to save paper. The guide also has helpful links for locally disposing of things that can't or need not be put in residential bins.

Happy Fall! With the first day of fall this past Saturday, September 23rd, we thought it would be fun (and informative) to let
you know that your fall leaves belong in the GREEN lid, organics container where they will be turned to compost. Leaves are a rich source of organic matter for your soil! Stay tuned for more What Goes Where posts! This is a big win all around. Keeping leaves off the sidewalks and out of the gutters allows our storm channels to run freely. No ponding water...no mosquitos breeding. REMEMBER: leaves, branches, sticks & twigs go in your
green lid organic container.

E-Bike Information & Updates |
Our Sheriff's Department along with the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) want to remind parents that there are a lot of great resources available to find out more about e-bikes and how to safely operate
them. Included on the resource page is a chart that breaks down the various type of e-bikes and the rules for each. OCSD Captain Patella talks about the complexities of the e-bike rules at every Neighborhood Watch gathering, like the one today on Wimbleton, as e-bikes continue to be a concern in throughout
the county. The OCTA recently published a new streamlined resource page to find out more about e-bikes. It's a great summary for all riders and drivers. It's worth goin there to watch the adventures of Goodboy Noah. Here's the link
