Hey, Wednesday morning (10/11), both Lee and Weaver are holding their Walk To School Day. Please pay particular attention as you
drive along Foster near the schools. There will be a lot of people (parents & kids) walking on the sidewalks and crossing the streets.
Then on Thursday (10/12) we have this week's Rossmoor Certified Farmers Market at Rush Park from 4 to7. If you haven't been recently, you should stop by and check out terrific number of quality vendors who provide prepared food, fresh produce, crafts and herbal
remedies. It's a great time to meet with your friends and see you neighbors. See you Thursday at the Market! We're Not an HOA, We're an RHA!

Every once in a while we like to remind the new people to our community (insiders already know.) The Rossmoor Homeowners Association (RHA) is a VOLUNTEER
community group. That's right, NOBODY on the RHA board, or any of our many committees is on salary or gets paid - including our webteam and communications network. We're an RHA, not an HOA. One community, one word: HOMEOWNERS ...not HOME OWNERS. Seriously folks, if we were an HOA, do you think our dues would be only $40 a YEAR? And you could join or not? Talk with your friends who have an HOA. Oh and that $40, that's the dues per household, not per individual, per year. Community volunteers, supported by our members,
generous sponsors and partners (not your tax dollars) is what provides all the great things that are going on in the RHA, and makes everything we enjoy, happen.
OCFA Fire Station Open Houses |
This Saturday, October 14, 2023, our very own OC Fire Authority celebrates the end of Fire Prevention Week with open houses at 28 of the 78 fires houses that protect more than 2 million residents here in Orange County. At the open houses, residents will learn how the fire stations operate, meet-and-greet with local firefighters and much more. Rossmoor residents can join in on this fun and educational OCFA event at the two stations that cover most of the Rossmoor calls for service each month - and there are hundreds of
them!: - Station 2 — 3642 Green Avenue, Los Alamitos.
- Station 48 — 3131 North Gate Road, Seal Beach.
The OCFA Open Houses take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October
14th. And after you tour OCFA Station 2, head over to Pine Street to enjoy a free and family friendly Saturday evening at the Fright Night Market from 4:00 to 8:00. Complete with live music, a beer garden and food trucks, you are sure to have a great time!

This year's ShakeOut is on Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m. The idea is that at that moment, you should drop, cover, and hold on until the shaking stops. Now, we all know most of us will not actually stop
anything at 20 minutes after 10 on Thursday. But, what if...? What is that infamous "Big One" happened. Would you be ready? Could you keep your family safe for 3-5 DAYS until any outside help arrives to assist you, your family, and your neighbors? Your real take away should be: Are you ready? And that's why cities, agencies, and their affiliated volunteer groups DO drill for these kinds of events. And, I'm sure if you look around on 10/19 shortly after 10:19, you will see some practicing going on. Plan ahead for the 19th, or any
time...
Fentanyl Is Forever Media Campaign |
OC Health Care Agency is launching a Fentanyl is Forever media campaign. Our youth are particularly at risk. Please take note: Fentanyl-related deaths, not Fentanyl overdose is the issue. A quantity of fentanyl the size of two grains of salt is enough to kill. We cannot over-stress the urgency of this situation. Everyone needs to have the facts, in order to protect our communities - and all children. More information

So close to home! Enjoy a virtual tour of the Rancho Los Alamitos on Bixby Hill Road, in Long Beach by clicking here. Today Rancho Los Alamitos is 7.5-acres, part of the original 300,000-acre Los Coyotes land concession given to Manuel Nieto in 1790 for his service on the Gaspar de Portolá expedition to
California under the Spanish Crown. The City of Los Alamitos was part of the original land grant. However, the story of Rancho Los Alamitos precedes these first newcomers, for the historic site is also part of the ancestral village of Povuu’ngna, the traditional place of origin of the native Gabrielino-Tongva people of the
Los Angeles Basin, and still a sacred place.
Want your kids/grand kids to have some real fun??! The next Kids Night Out from our good friends at The Youth Center is coming up on Friday October 20th. The parent/grand parent get away
night starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. and the kids will have an absolute blast. All the details are here. Please register before they fill up - the Halloween nights are always very
popular.
Where Does It Go?

We don't know about you, but as simple as some like it to sound, it's not easy. What EXACTLY goes where? The Our Rossmoor Team reached out to OC Waste and
Recycling and found this nifty site to help guide our disposables into the right bins, buckets, trucks, or whatever. The menu on the left side of the page also has the same info in a downloadable document for those who like doing things with a "real
book" to flip thru - download it if you must, but if you can, use it digitally to save paper. The guide also has helpful links for locally disposing of things that can't or need not be put in residential bins.

E-Bike Information & Updates |
Our Sheriff's Department along with the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) want to remind parents that there are a lot of great
resources available to find out more about e-bikes and how to safely operate them. Included on the resource page is a chart that breaks down the various type of e-bikes and the rules for each. OCSD Captain Patella talks about the complexities of the e-bike rules at every Neighborhood Watch gathering here in Rossmoor, as e-bike safety continues to be a concern in throughout the county. The OCTA recently published a new streamlined resource page to find out more about e-bikes. It's a great summary
for all riders and drivers. It's worth goin there to watch the adventures of Goodboy Noah. Here's the link
