Hey, It looks like we are settling into an upper 70s and lower 80s weather pattern for the next week with lows in the lower 60s.
Very nice October weather with no rain in the forecast.
Street sweeping will be back in play on Monday (ODD addresses) and Tuesday (EVEN addresses) and enforcement is happening. Yep, not every street and not every day, but tickets are being issued if you page your vehicle on the street on sweeping day. The fear of "getting caught" should not be the reason you don't park on the street, but if it helps
motivate you to do the right thing for our beaches and environment, there it is. Please keep Our Rossmoor streets clear for the sweepers. Thanks! Weaver Appreciates Our First Responders This coming Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 8:15am, Weaver Elementary will be honoring our First Responders to kick off the morning. The plan is very much like last year and is planned to include a police helicopter flyover along with and vehicles from all branches serving Rossmoor - including a visit from the K9 unit! This fun event will create both noise and commotion in and around the campus. Please do not be alarmed, or call the school. It's the school's opportunity to appreciate our first responders. Also, please let your neighbors know what's happening on Friday morning so they are aware and not alarmed. Thanks!

We're Not an HOA, We're an RHA! |
Every once in a while we like to remind the new people to our community (insiders already know.) The Rossmoor Homeowners Association (RHA) is a VOLUNTEER community group. That's right, NOBODY on the RHA board, or any of our many committees
is on salary or gets paid - including our web team and communications network. We're an RHA, not an HOA. One community, one word: HOMEOWNERS ...not HOME OWNERS. Seriously folks, if we were an HOA, do you think our dues would be only $40 a YEAR? And you could join or not? Talk with your friends who have
an HOA. Oh and that $40, that's the dues per household, not per individual, per year. Community volunteers, supported by our members, generous sponsors and partners (not your tax dollars) is what provides all the great things that are going on in the RHA, and makes everything we enjoy, happen.

Our CSD has rescheduled their audit committee meeting for Tuesday, October 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the Rush Park Auditorium. This meeting will review the recently completed audit for the District's fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. If you are interested in the District's finances and how the General Manger and Board
manage nearly 2 million of our tax dollars each year, the meeting packet (link here) and this meeting should provide you a good place to start.
This year's ShakeOut is on Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m. The idea is that at that moment, you should drop, cover, and hold on until the shaking stops. Now, we all know most of us will not actually stop
anything at 20 minutes after 10 on Thursday. But, what if...? What is that infamous "Big One" happened. Would you be ready? Could you keep your family safe for 3-5 DAYS until any outside help arrives to assist you, your family, and your neighbors? Your real take away should be: Are you ready? And that's why cities, agencies, and their affiliated volunteer groups DO drill for these kinds of events. And, I'm sure if you look around on 10/19 shortly after 10:19, you will see some practicing going on. Plan ahead for the 19th, or any
time...
Fentanyl Is Forever Media Campaign |
OC Health Care Agency is launching a Fentanyl is Forever media campaign. Our youth are particularly at risk. Please take note: Fentanyl-related deaths, not Fentanyl overdose is the issue. A quantity of fentanyl the size of two grains of salt is enough to kill. We cannot over-stress the urgency of this situation. Everyone needs to have the facts, in order to protect our communities - and all children. More information

We had a great time at the Taste For Los Al last night. Thanks to Larry Strawther and his team (including Diana Hill) for making our experience one to remember. Big shout out to CSD Director and Rossmoor champion Jo Shade for doing what she does
(everything), and RHA Board members Martin Flores and Marian Last for helping Art Remnet to staff our booth. We talked to hundreds of great friends and neighbors, distributed OC Waste & Recycling and OC Mosquito and Vector Control District information, and talked all things Rossmoor. Thanks
to everyone who came out to support the clubs and groups at Los Al and of course all the food vendors who created some terrific dishes and amazing desserts. It was an amazing evening. Plan to attend next year on Saturday, October 12, 2024! See you then!
Want your kids/grand kids to have some real fun??! The next Kids Night Out from our good friends at The Youth Center is coming up on Friday October 20th. The parent/grand parent get away
night starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. and the kids will have an absolute blast. All the details are here. Please register before they fill up - the Halloween nights are always very
popular.
Where Does It Go?

We don't know about you, but as simple as some like it to sound, it's not easy. What EXACTLY goes where? The Our Rossmoor Team reached out to OC Waste and
Recycling and found this nifty site to help guide our disposables into the right bins, buckets, trucks, or whatever. The menu on the left side of the page also has the same info in a downloadable document for those who like doing things with a "real
book" to flip thru - download it if you must, but if you can, use it digitally to save paper. The guide also has helpful links for locally disposing of things that can't or need not be put in residential bins.
