Hi, Well the cooling trend for the next week evaporated. The middle of the week should see us in the upper 80s just like much of last week. The good news is that our schools are air-conditioned so at
least our kids will be comfortable as they return to school this week Remember HUGS for Our Schools! As school starts in full force, it's easy to forget how much our schools depend on the great work their PTAs and Friends Of do to support the programs and opportunities our kids are enriched by and
enjoy. The RHA partners with the PTAs to help let you know how you can help support our schools. We call this program HUGS for Our Schools. It's super simple. The PTAs from our schools let us know when they are having "Dine For Dollars" nights or other opportunities that you can help them raise money for the school programs and we put those events on our HUGS page. This way, when you want to go out for a lunch or dinner (depending on the restaurant), you can look in one place to find out which schools are hosting fund raising events. It's a win for you (one place to look), our schools (they get a percentage of the money you spend), and our local restaurants. Plus, you going to eat out anyway, right? Check out this week's specials (I hear there's a Monday night deal for Hopkinson, but that's just between us) Then bookmark OurRossmoor.com/HUGS so you are just a click away from helping our schools.

This week sweeping will take place for the EVEN addresses on TUESDAY. This is because Tuesday is the 3rd Tuesday of August. Please help keep our ocean clean by moving your vehicles to the ODD side of the street and if Tuesday is your waste collection day, keep those waste carts on the parkway. Oh and if you are one of our neighbors who leaves their basketball hoop in
the street (BTW, that's not legal), please move it into your driveway so the sweepers can clean the gutter. Thanks for your help!

In Memoriam - Dave
Burgess |
Original Rossmoor Family resident, Dave Burgess has passed away. Dave understood our community. He attended Rush
Elementary, Oak Junior High School, Los Alamitos High School, and Long Beach State University, graduating with a degree in Finance. He was also a California-licensed General Contractor. Besides his Contracting business, many knew him through his service to Rossmoor, being elected to the Rossmoor Community Services District board of directors in the
2014 elections. Dave was a people’s choice candidate, particularly focused on representing fiscal accountability and public transparency in all he did. As such, he felt strongly about taking the district’s operations FOR the people TO the people, despite the risk of stirring controversies. Not surprisingly, he was the top vote-getter of four candidates, for the two open positions (beating out both new and incumbent candidates). Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Dave’s mother,
Barbara Burgess, the entire Burgess family, along with Dave’s friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

Hamlet on Video And Hamlet is available to watch from our site. Thanks to John Underwood and his team, you can watch this year's performance of Hamlet from the comfort of your our desk or chair. It's worth the watch. OC Public Works - At Work Making Rossmoor Better... Another story that's not glamorous. But hard work never is. Our OC Public Works Department reads and responds to our comments and concerns when we make them. You can call their offices and speak to a person, but the very best way to let them know is by going through their web portal here. This is our OCPW fixing things, this week. A few months back, a resident took a few pictures of the standing water (bad for our storm drains and mosquito abatement efforts) in front of his home, and sent the images into
the County, with the location and a message about the issue via their portal (accessible from here: OurRossmoor.com/myoc). While we hate maneuvering around construction, we LOVE seeing our tax dollars at
work, and having our streets and services functioning the way we have come to expect them in our community. Check out the progress here Our Rossmoor. A great place to live since 1957 |
