Hi , It looks like the rain is gone for a while, and it's going to be cold at night in the coming week. Okay, okay, "cold" is relative. Let's say that the low 40s and upper 30s is cold for
SoCal. Maybe not so much for the Mid-West and East. This "cold" should be with us for the next week or so. Stay warm Rossmoor! Thank You! We want to thank everyone who as signed up as a 2024 member of the RHA. And a very special THANKS goes out to those of you who have contributed anywhere from $4 to $150 extra
with your membership. Wow! That makes a huge impact and we greatly appreciate it. Our membership dues are our primary funding source and every member household counts. The more members, the more activities and awards we can put back into our community. Being a member is a win win for everyone. Please continue to support the RHA with your membership in 2024. There are a few things this week. Today is National Bird Day, our Rossmoor Farmers Market is happening on Thursday, the
County has free compost, and the Girls in STEM program starts next week. Details on all this and more below. OC Public Works Traffic Improvement Survey Wei Zhu from OC Public Works has requested that we (everyone in Rossmoor) share our opinion on the proposed traffic improvements
for the Montecito corridor. The survey is available here. There are additional details below and on our website.

Rossmoor Red Cross Drive
|
|
As we start a new year, we forward this call out of continuing need from the Red Cross, our partners in Rossmoor's monthly blood drives. From the Red Cross: The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage, so blood and
platelet donations are needed now to ensure lifesaving medical procedures are not delayed. Currently, the U.S. is facing the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years.
The Red Cross blood supply has fallen to critically low levels in recent weeks across the country. With blood products going to hospitals faster than blood donations are coming in, the Red Cross has had to limit distributions of some of the most transfused blood
types.
Additional challenges lie ahead as winter weather and seasonal respiratory illnesses like the flu and COVID-19 may compound the dire blood supply situation the nation currently faces.
Thank you Rossmoor for being a stellar example of a community coming together to fill a need. Since partnering with the Red Cross in
Rossmoor, our drive has generated 89 unique new donors (to the Red Cross), and 1239 total donors (including our monthly repeaters), who have given 1144 units, and helped save 3432 lives. Remember that the Red Cross will be at Rush Park on January 17th, and at present, there are 7 appointment slots still remaining, for those
wanting to participate.

Ha, we can say, Happy Birdday Everybody! Our Rossmoor already has a small group of people who go on bird walks thru our neighborhood streets and parks, guided by an in-house expert on birds. While she might not consider herself an ornithologist, she has more bird knowledge than the average person would ever need - especially about the types and habits of our feathered friends in our community, and is incredibly entertaining. Professionally, she has introduced several kids to the love of birding, through her engaging classroom sessions. This is not a formal Our Rossmoor community activity, but rather, it is something that we just do. This is how many of our RHA group activities start out - like our Lights Celebration, the Rossmoor Walk & Talk, the Holiday Lights Bike Tour, and the Holiday Golf Cart Ride. Someone in Rossmoor has an idea and they kick it off. Build it and it will come. If the Bird Walk sounds like something you might try,
leave us note on here our contact page expressing your interest interest. We'll put you on our notification list letting you know when walking and watching our feathered friends activities happen

We've flipped the calendar, and if our Christmas trees are not already down, they will need to be As we wind up Christmas, and tie a bow around 2023, here's the way we help CR&R manage the number of trees they collect, recycle, and mulch our holiday
