Hi ,

So the first rain of the season arrived. It looks like we will get some more on Friday night/Saturday morning. The good news is that the Farmers Market this afternoon should still happen.

So stop by the market and then at 6:30 stop into the Sheriff's Department Fentanyl Town Hall meeting in the Rush Park Auditorium.

The CR&R Bulky Item Pick Up & Compost Pick Up is on Saturday (at Rush), and the annual Sees Candy fundraiser is in full force for the next couple of weeks.

If getting items to Rush is too difficult, remember that you get TWO free Bulky Item Pick Ups (each pick up can have up to 4 items) from your home each year from CR&R. You can schedule a pick up from their website - look in the column on the right for "Bulky Items"

TYC Wellness Center Celebration

We are in awe of this project - and this young lady.

Ally Hatakeyama took it upon herself to design, fundraise for, and help construct the Wellness Project at The Youth Center. Countless youth (and adults) will find peace, solace, and comfort in this space that many call a second home.

The Youth Center celebrated the completion of the Wellness Center in their new facility on Los Alamitos Blvd. and the RHA was on hand to recognize Ally and the support of her family and The Youth Center Team, which made this night possible.

Caroling In Rossmoor - Hosts Wanted

Wouldn't it be great to have some caroling in Rossmoor around the holidays?

We have had Santa Clause riding in is sleigh with holiday music playing as he cruised the streets of Rossmoor. And many neighbors enjoy the joy that that spreads. In other neighborhoods groups of neighbors walk along the street, knock on some doors and sing seasonal songs bring holiday cheer to their neighbors.

Lindsey Ludwig has a number of volunteer neighbors willing to walk a short loop of Rossmoor homes singing along the way. The vision is that the caroling would be done in a "progressive" style, where there are four or five homes act as "host homes" for this first (hopefully, to be annual) Rossmoor Progressive Caroling event.

The plan is for the carolers sing on Sunday, December 10th from 4:00 to 6:00. If interested neighbors to walk from host home to host home singing and bringing holiday cheer.

Once we have the host homes, we will create a route and then share it with the the neighborhood. Anyone interested in joining the singing and fun can meet the group and we'll begin walking and singing along the route.

OCSD is holding a Town Hall on the Fentanyl Crisis

TONIGHT - Thursday, November 16th at the Rush Park Auditorium from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Stop by the Rossmoor Certified Farmers Market for dinner and then stop in to find out more about fentanyl, the signs and symptoms and how to protect your family.

It doesn't take much: A quantity of fentanyl the size of two grains of salt is enough to kill. We cannot over-stress the urgency of this situation. Everyone needs to have the facts, in order to protect our communities - and all children.

OC Health Care Agency has launched a Fentanyl is Forever media campaign.

Our youth are particularly at risk and the agency has created a education and awareness campaign to help residents better understand the dangers and what they can do about it.

Please take note: This is about Fentanyl-related deaths, not Fentanyl overdoses.

Rossmoor Toy Drive - Help Local Kids

Our Annual Rossmoor Toy Drive is ON!

It's time to start thinking about the annual Rossmoor Toy Drive that benefits The Youth Center and the families they serve.

Collection boxes are popping up all around town! You can make your unwrapped toy drop off at:

Ganahl's in Los Alamitos
Garage Pilates in Los Alamitos
Lucky Peak's Barber Shop in Los Alamitos
Bogart's Coffee House across from the pier in Seal Beach
The Youth Center (new location, across from Ganahl on Los Al Blvd)

The Toy Drive runs from November 1st through December 8th this year

Sneak peek. In case anyone has seen the green markings but isn't too familiar with them, our community will be getting some! These are to elevate awareness and presence of cyclists.

We have no specific timeline right now for when the work will be done (and we hate to guess and give out wrong info when timelines shift) but we will definitely see this type of bike and pedestrian improvements on Katella, as part of the I-605/Katella interchange improvements, in the not too distant future.
