After the past three days of high heat, it's nice that the forecast is saying that we will back into the low 80s and upper 70s through next weekend. It's a great reminder though that what's just right for you might be too much for others, whose bodies' sense temperatures differently. A friendly reminder to check on those
friends and neighbors who might not fair as well in the heat as you do. And, always remember their pets. It's critical to stay hydrated too. Our Summer Schedule - It will keep you hopping Summer is always a bit busy here in Rossmoor and the
surrounding communities. Just in the next couple of weeks, there's free concerts in both Los Al and Seal Beach, a HUGE fireworks show hosted at JFTB by Los Al and co-hosted by Seal Beach, and then two live Shakespeare plays at Rush Park. And let's not forget about our June Community Conversations on Thursday
night at 7:00 p.m. when UCI MIND will talk about the ways you can at least delay the effects of Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia. And it starts with things we do in our 40s, 50s, and 60s. If you or someone you know and care about is in that group, you might want to join us at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Thursday. See details
below. Let's get into the details!
As the temperatures warm, the breeding times for mosquitoes speeds up. Now, is the
time to do another yard audit. Here's a 2 page home checklist from OC Mosquito & Vector Control that you can use to make sure you are not breeding mosquitoes
in your yard.
To protect yourself and your family from bites, follow these tips: - Eliminate all sources of standing water, including water in flowerpots, old tires, buckets,
pet dishes, and trash cans.
- Install screens on doors and windows and keep them in good repair.
- Repair leaky faucets and broken sprinklers that can create standing water.
- Follow label instructions to apply insect repellent containing an EPA-registered active ingredient such as DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR3535.
- Wear long sleeves and pants, especially while outside during dawn and dusk when the mosquitoes that can spread West Nile virus are most
active.

memory problems later in life. Thursday, June 27th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Join us for this no-cost, community get-together. For more than 30 years, UCI MIND has been at the forefront of Alzheimer’s disease research. It is home to one of the NIH-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers in the United States and

RHA Adopt-A-Channel Signs
This past week The County installed our Adopt-A-Channel signs in four locations in Rossmoor. These signs are part of the countywide program that helps to recognize the partnership between Orange County and the groups and organizations that help keep the channels free of trash and
debris. We are truly grateful to be able to help. Contest Time As we mentioned, there are 4 of these signs in Rossmoor. See if you can find all four them
by the end of the month. If you do, reply to this email with the location (street and cross street). If you are one of the first 4 people to respond with the correct sign locations, by the end of June, we will get you a gift. Just a little summer fun from the RHA. (Update: one
correct entry has already been received! There's still time to discover the sign locations.)
JFTB Fireworks Spectacular!
This year's 3rd of July Firework Spectacular is going to be another great event! Held at the Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in partnership with Los Alamitos and Seal
Beach, this annual event brings fun and joy to 1,000s each year. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for the traditional event set up to include a family fun area, static displays, live entertainment, food and commercial vendors and the best fireworks show display in the area! With the Long Beach fireworks show being cancelled this year the City of Los Alamitos is expecting a large
crowd to descend on the event. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and will close at 8:45 or when capacity is met. If you plan to attend the event, plan accordingly. The fireworks show starts around 9:00 p.m.
See Shakespeare Live In Rush Park!
Well, maybe not good old William himself, but a couple of his plays will be performed. I'm sure they will be more entertaining than William anyway. Friday July 5th and Saturday, July 6th at 7:00 PM King Henry IV (Friday) King Henry IV, having usurped the throne from Richard II, faces a rebellion against him led by the Earl of Northumberland, his brother the Earl of Worcester and his son Henry Percy,
called Hotspur. They join forces with Edmund Mortimer, a strong claimant to the throne though his relation to Richard II, and the Welsh rebel Owen Glendower. Adventures ensue with a robbery, plot twists, and in the end denial. Cardenio (Saturday) This is a new adaptation of
a lost play by Shakespeare & Fletcher. CoAdapters Jonathan Fisher and Anna Miles have written additional material to build a framework and context around this rarely-performed play: London, 1613. William Shakespeare has been commissioned to write one last play before his retirement and enlists his fellow playwright and protégé John Fletcher to
help him write it: an adaptation of an episode from Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote called Cardenio. Check out the synopsis and learn more about the Artists in SBTS' digital programs that includes everything you'll want to know: synopsis of the shows, performers, producers, sponsors, and how to support..... This is the 14th consecutive season
Rossmoor will enjoy Shakespeare the Sea family-friendly live Shakespearean plays in our park (excluding our co-vid year). All performances are FREE to the public, with donations gladly accepted - costs to produce have gone up astronomically. BTW, because of our long-standing relationship with SBTS, Rossmoor is one of only 3
Orange County locations presenting Henry IV and Cardenio this summer, and the only one to be performing both shows. Come picnic with us.
Drop-In Pickleball - Free Since there is a lot of interest about pickleball, we thought we'd let you know about the free, drop-in pickleball sessions being hosted by
Los Al Parks & Rec. The sessions are on each Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and again from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gym on JFTB (it's next to the pool). Check out pickleball and enjoy open play for
free NOW through the end of July.
The County of Orange is updating its General Plan which serves as a long-term guide for decisions on future growth and development in the County’s unincorporated areas. The General Plan will serve as a decision-making tool to address issues such as new
growth, housing needs and environmental protection, as well as regional services and facilities such as parks, roads and flood control facilities. This General Plan Update is a way for you to share your vision for the future of your community. We encourage the public to participate in this process to make the General Plan a
success. Please take the survey and find additional information and public meeting times here on the OC Planning page.
Puzzles can be so much fun. On your own, with others over days or weeks or as a team in speed competition that completes a 500piece puzzle in less than an hour, there are a many ways to enjoy puzzles. Located
in the Rossmoor/Seal Beach area of north Coastal Orange County, the Peaceful Puzzle Library & Exchange was started in March of 202 to support the puzzler community during the pandemic and has has been growing ever since. The Exchange has approximately 800 jigsaw puzzles ranging from 300-3,000 pieces, organized in multiple PDF catalogs. The Exchange is operated this like a
library, check out a few, return, check out some more, rinse/repeat. Join the group if you'd like to view the catalogs! It's free to belong and enjoy the mind work that puzzling
provides. The Exchange also host in-person puzzle swaps and puzzle contests too. Join the Group to find out more.
