We're sure that you've felt the heat this weekend. It's been really hot out there.
A/C units are running almost non-stop and it's kind of like a late spring
day in Phoenix - in the mid- to upper-90s.
All kidding aside, this heat is dangerous for us to be out in for very long and it is much worse just a few short miles further inland. And if you think it's hot out there, just think about your dog. Their paws are not made for the excessive heat from the sidewalks and streets. Even
after dark, the roadways radiate heat and can burn their feet.
A simple test - put your palms on the sidewalk or street surface for a count of 4 (four paws, four seconds) and see if your hand hurts when you remove it. If it does, then the surface is too hot for your pooch to walk on. Also, never leave your pets in a closed car. The high
temperatures can kill in very short order. Please think ahead and keep yourself and your pest safe.
If you want to escape the heat, you can go to one of the local malls, a movie theater or many public libraries. The County has a great list of area cooling centers as well. Check out the cooling center current list here.
And we should be cooler by Wednesday.... 😀
