It looks like we will see low to mid-80s all week with mostly sunny skies. Should be very nice for the 4th of July celebrations upcoming this week. Plan to enjoy yourself. Speaking of fireworks, there are a number of locations in Los Alamitos where you can support the Los Alamitos Foundation and other area non-profits with your purchase of fireworks. The stands open tomorrow, July 1st. There is a stand in front of Vons on Los Al Blvd and another at the Los Alamitos Baseball fields off Farquhar. While the thrill of lighting off fireworks is always special, doing so in Rossmoor, especially in the Rossmoor parks, is not permitted. Please be a good neighbor and plan to set off your fireworks elsewhere. Sweeper Week That's right, it's street sweeping time in Rossmoor. Monday the sweepers will be cleaning the odd sides of the street and Tuesday they will be cleaning the even sides. Please plan to move your vehicles so we can
keep the pollution out of our storm channels and the ocean. Thanks! Our Summer Schedule - It's Hot and Booked Summer is always a bit busy here in Rossmoor and the surrounding communities. Just in the next couple of weeks, there are free
live concerts in both Los Al and Seal Beach, a HUGE fireworks show hosted at JFTB by Los Al and co-hosted by Seal Beach, and then two live Shakespeare plays at Rush Park. Let's get to it!
JFTB Fireworks Spectacular!
This year's 3rd of July Firework Spectacular is going to be another great event! Held
at the Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in partnership with Los Alamitos and Seal Beach, this annual event brings fun and joy to 1,000s each year. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for the traditional event set up to include a family fun area, static displays, live entertainment, food and commercial vendors and the best fireworks show display in the area! With the Long Beach fireworks show being cancelled this year the City of Los Alamitos is expecting a large crowd to descend on the event. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and will close at 8:45 or when capacity is met. If you plan to attend the event, plan accordingly (Hint: get there early!). The
fireworks show starts around 9:00 p.m.
See Shakespeare Live In Rush Park!
Well, maybe not good old William himself, but a couple of his plays will be performed. I'm sure they will be more entertaining than William anyway. Friday July 5th and Saturday, July 6th at 7:00 PM King Henry IV (Friday) King Henry IV, having usurped the throne from Richard II, faces a rebellion against him led by the Earl of Northumberland, his brother the Earl of Worcester and his son Henry Percy,
called Hotspur. They join forces with Edmund Mortimer, a strong claimant to the throne though his relation to Richard II, and the Welsh rebel Owen Glendower. Adventures ensue with a robbery, plot twists, and in the end denial. Cardenio (Saturday) This is a new adaptation of
a lost play by Shakespeare & Fletcher. CoAdapters Jonathan Fisher and Anna Miles have written additional material to build a framework and context around this rarely-performed play: London, 1613. William Shakespeare has been commissioned to write one last play before his retirement and enlists his fellow playwright and protégé John Fletcher to
help him write it: an adaptation of an episode from Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote called Cardenio. Check out the synopsis and learn more about the Artists in SBTS' digital programs that includes everything you'll want to know: synopsis of the shows, performers, producers, sponsors, and how to support..... This is the 14th consecutive season
Rossmoor will enjoy Shakespeare the Sea family-friendly live Shakespearean plays in our park (excluding our co-vid year). All performances are FREE to the public, with donations gladly accepted - costs to produce have gone up astronomically. BTW, because of our long-standing relationship with SBTS, Rossmoor is one of only 3
Orange County locations presenting Henry IV and Cardenio this summer, and the only location to have both shows performed. Come picnic with us.
As the temperatures warm, the breeding times for mosquitoes speeds up. Now, is the
time to do another yard audit. Here's a 2 page home checklist from OC Mosquito & Vector Control that you can use to make sure you are not breeding mosquitoes
in your yard.
To protect yourself and your family from bites, follow these tips: - Eliminate all sources of standing water, including water in flowerpots, old tires, buckets,
pet dishes, and trash cans.
- Install screens on doors and windows and keep them in good repair.
- Repair leaky faucets and broken sprinklers that can create standing water.
- Follow label instructions to apply insect repellent containing an EPA-registered active ingredient such as DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR3535.
- Wear long sleeves and pants, especially while outside during dawn and dusk when the mosquitoes that can spread West Nile virus are most
active.

Drop-In Pickleball - Free Since there is a lot of interest about pickleball, we thought we'd let you know about the free, drop-in pickleball sessions being hosted by
Los Al Parks & Rec. The sessions are on each Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and again from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gym on JFTB (it's next to the pool). Check out pickleball and enjoy open play for
free NOW through the end of July.
The RHA is proud to once again sponsor the Rossmoor Family Festival series this summer. Please plan to join us for the July edition of the Rossmoor Family Festival from 3 to 8 p.m. this month featuring Stone Soul starting at 6:00 p.m. The Festival is a great event for neighbors and friends to relax and enjoy the opportunity
to picnic in Rush Park under the wonderful trees or out in the light from the setting sun. Bring the kids to explore the many rides and activities going on all day. And, if you'd like an adult beverage or two, the beer and wine garden is in full swing all afternoon and evening. The free Bike Rossmoor bike valet service will be there to
help keep your bike safe. Everyone who parks their bike with the Valet, gets an entry into the prize drawing too. It will be a great day to follow up on our 4th of July weekend celebrations from the week before.
Neighborhood Watch Gathering on Druid We had a great gathering with more than 20 neighbors today on Druid. This "block" includes more than 20 homes of very engaged neighbors. Some were new to the block while others had been around for a decade or two.
The gathering was a great way for these neighbors to get to know each other a little better, share some great food (it was pot-luck style), and talk with OCSD Deputies Sgt Bruno Garcia and Alex Kim. There were a number of good discussions and one of the items that came up was what to do when a family was going on vacation. Sgt Garcia was quick to share that our Sheriff's Department will check out your home while you're gone, if you ask them to. It's the easiest way to get more patrols in Rossmoor, just let them know
by following the instructions here and you are all set to go enjoy your trip. If You See Something Say Something continues to be what both the OCSD and CHP want us to do, even if it is not an "emergency." Call the OCSD Dispatcher at
714-647-7000 or if your issue is traffic speed related, please call the CHP non-emergency line at 714-622-3600.
The Youth Center ROCKS! Deadline Nearing
Community Groups & Resources
Our community has a number of great ways for you to engage with your neighbors in hobbies and activities. While these are not RHA groups, they are great resources for you and your family members. Check them out.
