It looks we will have some Santa Ana winds on Monday and then again on Wednesday into Thursday. Our temps should be in the mid-70s for most of the week. Polls Are Open Yes, for those of you who have not voted, now is the time. The Polls at Rossmoor Park are open both Monday and Tuesday if you want to drop off your ballot or vote in person. Either is great. Also, the ballot drop box in front of the Los Al Rec Center (10911 Oak St) is open 24-hours a day to collect your ballots. It's most important that you vote.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center
We had a lot of questions about where Rossmoor residents could dispose of hazardous waste like batteries, old paint, old yard chemicals, motor oil, gasoline, and even old light bubs. The answer for all of these things and more is the Huntington Beach Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center. It's free for residents to drop off items for proper disposal. Take advantage of their Tuesday to Saturday hours of operation.

Griffin Gazette: Journalism Convention
Aiden Floyd & Jaya Eapen, Staff Writers from the LAHS Griffin Gazette shared
about the exciting the upcoming National High School Journalism Convention in Philadelphia and the two Griffin Gazette writers that will attend. Check out her full article here.
Staff To Attend National Journalism Convention
The Fall National High School Journalism Convention, the U.S.’s biggest gathering of high school journalists, will
be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Nov. 7-10. For 50 years, this event has, on average, attracted 5,000 attendants annually. This year, the Los Alamitos High School Griffin Gazette will attend for the first time, sending seniors Bella Kim and Maleah Fennessey.
In eighth grade, Kim and Fennessey were co-editors-in-chief of the McAuliffe Middle School Birdwatch online newspaper. “This is such a great opportunity that I never pictured being able to have. To think that we’ll be around such an amazing national community
of journalism students makes me really proud of how far (Bella and I) have come. From starting journalism together in middle school to going to the convention in high school; it’s been an amazing journey,” said Fennessey, staff writer. The convention will include learning sessions from professional journalists and hands-on breakout sessions that focus on newspapers, site design, broadcasts, yearbooks and
magazines. These skills will allow the Griffin Gazette to gain irreplaceable experience to add to their writing abilities and share with the rest of the class. This will be the first time the Griffin Gazette has attended a convention of this caliber. Read more here...
