The neighborhood is abuzz with anticipation for the Lights HotSpot map and the Lights Recognition Awards. After a spectacular Rossmoor Winter Festival last night, the judges were out snapping photos and tabulating descriptive words for the awards and map - Results will be out tomorrow (Monday) in case you were wondering - and are busily working on their final determinations. 

What a night! Congratulations Rossmoor! Very well done.

We have two more winners to add to the list for the 2024 Rossmoor Lights Nominating Contest.

Street Sweeping Monday & Tuesday

 Before we get to the other cool stuff below, we do need to remind you that the street sweepers will be back in Rossmoor Monday & Tuesday this week. 

Let's see how clear of vehicles we can have the ODD sides of Rossmoor streets on Monday and EVEN sides on Tuesday. This will help us get the leaves and other things out of our streets before they clog up our storm channels. Thanks for your help. 

What a Great Night - Rossmoor Winter Festival!

Rossmoor's Winter Festival was terrific this year. There was no windstorm or rain and the night was cool but not really cold. The snow was great and of course Santa was busy all night taking requests from all the good boys and girls who stopped by. 

The 2024 edition of the Rossmoor Winter Festival had all the food and vendors you wanted to see. The entertaining student performances from Lee, Weaver, Rossmoor, Hopkinson, Oak and McAuliffe lifted spirits and spread the joy of the season to all who attended. 

A huge THANKS goes out to the event sponsors as well. Their support allows events like these to happen for everyone.

The Youth Center Tree Lot - Last Days

The Youth Center's trees are selling fast and have received their their last shipment for the season. 

These Oregon trees are super fresh (arrived Wednesday) and will look amazing in your home. Don't miss your chance. The Youth Center sells out every year and this year will not be the exception.

There's still a good selection of trees as of Friday afternoon.

So, if you don't have your tree yet, it's time to head up to Ganahl Lumber and pick up your super fresh tree before they are all gone.

December's Community Conversation

THURSDAY 12/19!

Our December Community Conversation will be on the topic of minimizing the stress of dementia care during the holidays. The conversation will be led by members of the Alzheimer's Family Center in Huntington Beach and will touch on helpful ways to handle holiday stress while caring for someone with dementia. Learn practical tips to create a calm, enjoyable environment and maintain your well-being during the festive season. This session offers strategies to manage expectations, simplify celebrations, and ensure meaningful moments for everyone involved.

Plan to join us on Thursday, December 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at the corner of Katella and Wallingsford here in Rossmoor.

Griffin Gazette: Music Studio hits the stage for their end-of-semester performance

On Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m., Music Studios showed off their talent in an end-of-semester performance at Bogart’s Coffee House. From listening to students singing originals to playing various instruments, the show didn’t have a dull moment. The student’s hard work and dedication made for a great night!

While the Music Studios teacher, Ms. Dherlin, helps guide and support students in Music Studios, it is mostly a student-run class. I could clearly see this on stage, and, like many audience members, I could tell that the students have been collaborating together and producing some really great music throughout this fall semester.

“The goal of this performance is that it’s student-driven,” Ms. Dherlin said. “I feel proud to see them step up and not only learn about making music but also about producing music.”

Songs like “Wishing on a Star,” “Keep a Look Out, Santa Claus,” “Snowy Mountain Blues” and “My Love is Gone” are all originals written by the students. Most originals even had a backstory...
