Los Al Basketball Fundraising Scam

From our friends at the Los Al Unified School District:

It has come to our attention that a group of boys are going door-to-door in the Rossmoor area, claiming to be raising money for the Los Alamitos High School Boys Basketball team. However, after verifying with the coach, we have confirmed that what they are soliciting is not an official fundraiser for the team, and none of our teams at LAHS conduct door-to-door fundraising activities. The boys are reportedly asking for on-the-spot cash donations without specifying what they are selling.

If you see these people on your block or they come to your door - PLEASE call the Sheriff's Department (this number should already be a contact in your phone, but just in case) 714-647-7000 and report them.

Candidate Night Forum

The RHA's Meet Your Candidates Forum was a great evening with more than 50 residents coming out to meet and hear the candidates share their thoughts on various questions submitted by Rossmoor residents. The recording of the full event and each segment of the event are now available here on the RHA website. We also have posted the responses to the written questions we sent to each candidate. 

There's been some discussion about the RHA's position on candidates, and as always, the RHA does not endorse or recommend any candidate for any position. This has been our long standing policy and it has not changed. We are and remain candidate neutral. 

We do encourage everyone who is registered to vote to send in or drop off their ballot after it arrives during the week of October 7th.

Pacific Air Show Next Weekend...Jets Arriving

The Pacific Airshow in  Huntington Beach will kick off on Friday 10/4.

The show will include

the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, and the U.S. Air Force A-10 Demo Team’s Final performance ever, 

This also means that the planes and support teams will be arriving at our Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) this week.to stage and take on practice runs out over the Pacific. You can expect an increase in jet and helicopter activity (some call this "sounds of freedom") and the related noise during the week and much of the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For those who love watching these precision aircraft fly and perform, this is the weekend to visit the Pub on the base. There are no public tours or the ability to see the aircraft up close or visit with the pilots that we know of at this time. That said, you can see the airfield runway from The Pub seating area.

Crystal Hearts Ball...

This year’s Crystal Hearts Ball took place on September 21 at the Marconi Automotive Museum. The Youth Center put on a fun-filled night to honor incredible organizations and individuals who have made an impact in our community. Community leaders, families and supporters gathered to support the outstanding nominees.

The Marconi Automotive Museum is located in Tustin, California and is home to over 100 vehicles worth more than $60 million. This museum holds cars from many movies, like the Batmobile from “Batman” and KIIT from “Knight Rider.”

Guests enjoyed performances from the Los Alamitos Ballet Theatre, a local dance company, dinner and speeches given by past recipients of the awards. Throughout the whole night, a silent auction and raffle were taking place to raise money for The Youth Center’s programs. After a live auction, they announced the awards.

The Crystal Hearts award winners were recognized in five different categories: individual, family, youth, organization and business. All awards were given for the remarkable difference the recipients make in their community...

October’s Community Conversation

Our planned October Community Conversation will be with a team from the Orange County Planning Department to discuss the County's general plan and what impacts we might expect to see in Rossmoor. 

Plan to join us on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at the corner of Katella and Wallingsford here in Rossmoor.
