We have had some great weather over the past week and it looks like it will continue for the next few days before things start to cool down a bit next week. Very fall like weather. Very nice.

VOTE!

Your ballot will arrive in the mail over the next few days. Please make sure that you take the time to vote. Early is a good time to vote because there's less chance that you will forget to vote on or before November 5th. So, once that ballot arrives, just go ahead and fill it out. Then you can mail it back to the county or drop it off in one of the many ballot drop boxes throughout the county. There one directly in front of the Los Alamitos Recreation Building at 10911 Oak Street. It's always open

New Street Signs for Rossmoor - Thanks OCPW

A BIG shoutout to #OCPW!

Some of our street signs are older and faded and seeing them, especially at night, is very difficult.

We are always saying: If you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING, right?

This is another great example of exactly that. The OC Public Works team maintains 365 miles of roadway, here in Orange County. About 10% of that roadway is here in Rossmoor. If you see a faded or damaged road sign as you walk or dirve through Rossmoor, say something to OCPW! It's super easy to use their web portal to report things like this. Just go to this helpful short link: OurRossmoor.com/myoc and tell them which street sign is faded. If you can snap a picture with your phone, that's even more helpful. The OCPW Team will get back to you with a response. Sometimes, the sign is already scheduled to be replaced. Other times, you are the first one to let them know about it.

Either way we all win because updating the signs makes Rossmoor safer and easier to know what street we are on. This photo was taken last week and we are told that more signs will be showing up soon.

Candidate Night Forum

The RHA's Meet Your Candidates Forum was a great evening with more than 50 residents coming out to meet and hear the candidates share their thoughts on various questions submitted by Rossmoor residents. The recording of the full event and each segment of the event are now available here on the RHA website. We also have posted the responses to the written questions we sent to each candidate.

There's been some discussion about the RHA's position on candidates, and as always, the RHA does not endorse or recommend any candidate for any position. This has been our long standing policy and it has not changed. We are and remain candidate neutral.

We do encourage everyone who is registered to vote to send in or drop off their ballot after it arrives this week.

Welcome Back Grab 'n Go Lunches

Our second Grab 'n Go lunch was at Rossmoor School this past Friday and it was a ton of fun. We served up over 80 Nick's Deli sandwiches to the teachers and staff as a way to recognize the time, effort and love they provide the student who attend our schools. Fear not, we will be heading to both Hopkinson and Weaver in the coming weeks, to appreciate them too.

Thanks to Community Engagement Coordinator Mary Ann Remnet, District Trustee Chris Forehan, and RHA President Art Remnet for welcoming the teachers and staff to the lunch and to Rossmoor Elementary Principal Amy Coltey for always being there to support her students, teachers and staff.

National Walk To School Day!

ICYMI: This past Friday was National Walk to School Day.

In Rossmoor though, Our 4 elementary schools have a longstanding practice of assembling at one of our two parks and walking to their respective schools every month, as part of their commitment to the Safe Routes to School program.

Today’s Walk to School Wednesday was a big success. Huge turnout for all four schools and a big thank you to the OCSD & CHP who sent out multiple deputies and officeres to walk with and escort the students, parents, and teachers.

And a big RHA thank you to OC Sheriff's Department North Patrol for your unwavering support in (and for) our community. The OCSD is something really special!

Support LAHS Griffin Gazette Journalists...

Two Los Alamitos High School seniors, Bella Kim and Maleah Fennessey, from the Griffin Gazette, are set to attend the Fall National High School Journalism Convention, Nov. 7-10, 2024, in Philadelphia.

Hosted by the Journalism Education Association and National Scholastic Press Association, it’s the nation’s largest gathering of high school journalists, with over 5,000 attendees. Bella and Maleah will gain invaluable experience through workshops, contests and networking with top professionals, bringing back new skills and insights to elevate LAHS journalism.

October’s Community Conversation

Our planned October Community Conversation will be with a team from the Orange County Planning Department to discuss the County's general plan and what impacts we might expect to see in Rossmoor.

Plan to join us on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at the corner of Katella and Wallingsford here in Rossmoor.

Adult Transition Program With Papa Chris
After a long week, there was nothing better than finishing it with our Adult Transition Program kids and watercolor. Our cats turned out more than creative. There is something vey magical to bring art to these kids. As one student shared “we love Papa Art…."

We are super lucky to have "Papa Chris" as a neighbor and a big part of our school district. Thank you for all you do, Chris Forehan!
