Wow- it's going to be a busy few days. The Whales salute our First Responders, Hopkinson has a terrific carnival, both in Friday. Then Saturday morning, we have our quarterly free shred on site "Get Shredded" event at Lee. Plus a new Griffin Gazette article, and it's trunk or treat time again.

Let's get right to it.

Our weather has been delightful these past couple of days and should continue in the mid-70 through the weekend before drifting into the low 70s next week.

Hopefully, the cloud cover will break enough for the Annual Weaver Whales Salute to First Responders. 

At about 8:15, Friday, October 25th the Whales will honor our First Responders. As part of the event, there will be a lot of noise and commotion around the Weaver campus. A helicopter flyover is scheduled and there will be law enforcement vehicles from a number of departments on site. 

Please do not be alarmed or call the school. This is a planned celebration. Also, please share this message with your neighbors so they are not alarmed either. Thanks! 

October Quarterly Shredding..... Saturday 10/26 

Our quarterly document shredding event will be Saturday, October 26th at Lee School here in Rossmoor. The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to noon or when the shredding truck is full. Start collecting those papers and we will see you on Saturday, October 26th! Additional details here

It's Tunk or Treat Season

Los Al is hosting their famous Trunk or Treat event at Little Cottonwood Park  this Saturday, 10/26 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. This free event will be a great place to bring the family and either take care of trick or treating this year or test out those darling (or scary) costumes! 

• Pumpkin Patch (one free pumpkin per household while supply lasts)
• Costume Contest with five divisions: Ages 0-3, Ages 4-7, Ages 8-12, Family Division, Pet Division (1st - 3rd place prizes available)
• Adult Pie Eating Contest
• Moon Bounces
• Spooky Train Ride
• Carnival Games
• Calming Sensory Activity Area

All the above events and activities are free. There will be food vendors and beverages available for purchase. Additional details here on Los Al's site.

Farmers Market & Trick Or Treating @ Rush Park

And, then on Halloween itself, the Rossmoor Certified Farmers Market is hosting a Trick or Treat event with  costume contest, cookie decorating and pumpkin carving contest at Rush Park from 4:00 to 7:00

Welcome Back Grab 'n Go Lunches - Weaver

Our last Rossmoor Welcome Back Grab 'n Go Lunches for teachers and staff was at Weaver School and Principal Todd Schmidt  and his team welcomed us as we brought in lunch from Nick's Deli. 

Since it was parent conference week, the teachers were even more appreciative for the grab 'n go format as it allowed them to get back to preparing for their afternoon parent conferences. Trustees Diana Hill and Chris Forehan joined us as we greeted both teachers and staff for lunch with sandwiches from Nick's Deli in Los Alamitos. 

This week the "Delivery Team" was made up of Chris Forehan, Art Remnet, Diana Hill and taking the picture, Mary Ann Remnet.

Just 13 Days Left to VOTE and Be Heard!!

We hear it all the time now, "I can wait until this election is over." 

I know exactly how they feel. The ugly commercials, the people making threats and accusations (some more veiled than others), even in the more local elections. It's tiresome to say the least.

Yes, it will be good to have this election behind us some we can get on with life - whatever the outcomes are.

Note: If you have not received your ballot or want another one, now it the time to reach out to the good people at OCVote.gov and get your ballot.

Now is your time to vote and voice your opinions.

Please make sure that you take the time to vote.  Ballots are due on or before November 5th.

There are many vote drop boxes throughout the county. There is one directly in front of the Los Alamitos Recreation Building at 10911 Oak Street. It's open 24/7 between now and the election on 11/5/2024.

Candidate Night Forum

The RHA's Meet Your Candidates Forum was a great evening with more than 50 residents coming out to meet and hear the candidates share their thoughts on various questions submitted by Rossmoor residents. The recording of the full event and each segment of the event are now available here on the RHA website. We also have posted the responses to the written questions we sent to each candidate. 

The RHA encourages everyone who is registered to vote to send in or drop off their ballot as soon as possible.

November's Community Conversation

Our November Community Conversation will be with Dr.  Bridgid Conn from LA Children's Hospital speaking about common stressors and strategies parents can employ to help themselves and their children during periods of increased stress. 

Dr. Conn will share about how parents can establish boundaries, foster resilience, and facilitate effective communication and shared decision-making among family members. There will also be time for attendees to ask questions about related or more specific topics.

Plan to join us on Thursday, November 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at the corner of Katella and Wallingsford here in Rossmoor.
