We should have a very pleasant weekend weather wise. The middle of next week we should see some more rain, with Wednesday into Thursday looking like the most probable wet times. 

Spring Ahead!

Yes, there are some big changes coming our way in the next few months here in Rossmoor, but this one should be expected and pretty easy. 

Yes, like it or not, this Sunday at 2:00 a.m. we get to "spring ahead" an hour. While most clocks do this auto-magically now, there is always that microwave or car clock that just resist the change. So you'll have to do that manually. 

REAL IDs REQUIRED!

It has taken years and years to finally arrive. But the time is upon us. In a just a couple of months, Californians (and all US residents) will need a REAL ID (or passport) to board domestic flights.

After the May 7, 2025 deadline, a REAL ID will also be required to enter federal facilities such as military bases, federal courthouses and other secured facilities.

If you do not yet have a REAL ID, now is the time to get one.

Shakespeare at Rush - End of June

Thanks in great part from your emails and calls, our Community Services District has booked Shakespeare By the Sea (SBTS) to perform in Rush Park this summer!! 

Shakespeare at Rush Park is a longtime and cherished tradition was started by a Rossmoor resident's grant in the mid-2000s. Community engagement at its very best!

Here's what we will get to see at Rush Park this summer:

• Julius Caesar, Directed by Stephanie Coltrin - (6/28)
   Loyalties are tested in Shakespeare’s exploration of the definition of honor, the agony of decision and the cost of crossing to the point of no return.
   
• As You Like It, Directed by Suzanne Dean - (6/29)
   Banished from home, Rosalind flees to the Forest of Arden with friends, discovering freedom, love and her truest self in Shakespeare’s uplifting comedy of transformation and new beginnings.

Thanks to everyone who spoke up and said, hey we'd like to continue the tradition of  having Shakespeare By The Sea, perform Shakespeare at Rush Park for free. And thanks to the District for inking the deal so that SBTS can perform at Rush.

LAHS Interact Club is determined to make a difference in the Global Schisto Project; their upcoming talent show is the key to change.

Bright lights shine, illuminating you as you make your way to the PAC stage to perform. No, this is not your fantasy of finally basking in the spotlight; it could be your new reality at Los Alamitos High School’s upcoming talent show. 

Hosted by LAHS Interact Club, the annual talent show is the perfect opportunity for motivated students to showcase their hidden (or visible) talents. The talent show itself is on Thursday, March 27 in the PAC at 5 p.m., and tickets will go on sale at least two weeks before the show. 

Previous years included numerous acts: bands, solo singers, dancers, magic shows and comedians; students are given immense freedom to showcase a large range of talents.

 Interact Club’s advisor, Ms. Grimshaw, mentioned her favorite performance over the years.

“I always love the bands. The band that won (one year) dressed in some of the greatest costumes, and they played little kid instruments like a kazoo,” Ms. Grimshaw said. “They played Toto’s ‘Africa,’ and it was just crazy hilarious.”

But the show is not simply a showcase of student talent; it is also an exciting competition. The winning act will receive two free prom tickets or the cash equivalent.

“It is an audience voting,” Ms. Grimshaw said. “The audience takes part of their ticket, and they put it in a box for the people they want to win.”
