Our weather is interesting. A high in the low 80s (yep 80s) Thursday and then dropping into the 60s by Saturday with a slight chance of some drizzly rain on a mostly overcast Sunday.

Rossmoor Farmers Market - Thursday 4-7

On Thursday the Rossmoor Certified Farmers Market will be in Rush Park from 4:00 to 7:00. Produce and food vendors (like yummy organic honey) along with craft and care merchants will be there to provide samples and information about their products. Please come check out the goods either as a "whistle stop" or stay a while and visit with your neighbors. It's good either way. See you Thursday at Rush!

Winter Quarter Shredding - This Saturday

The time has come to get your shredding done!

This Saturday, January 25th at Lee School is our next shredding event. We will kick off at 8:00 and close at noon or when the truck is full. More details can be found here on our site.

2025 Our Rossmoor Magazine Arriving

The 2025 issue of the Our Rossmoor print magazine will be arriving in your mail boxes later this week.

Look for a big white envelope that will contain the full color magazine along with an invitation to join or renew your RHA membership. If you'd rather not wait, you can always sign up for your 2025 membership here.

2025 RHA Membership - Open!

Our traditional RHA "membership drive" kicks off in November with the Christmas Lights nomination Contest and extends through February. Historically, the largest influx of renewals come in shortly after the annual Our Rossmoor Magazine lands in homes between Christmas and New Years. 

This year we are sending out the magazine a little later in January to see if it's the mailing that creates the large number of renewals, or if it's the end of the year that triggers people to renew their memberships. 

This is to say, look for our annual magazine toward mid-January with 2024 in review and a preview of some of the events coming to Rossmoor in 2025.

Bylaw Change: To Reduce Number of Directors

At the January Board meeting, the RHA Directors unanimously passed a change to the Association Bylaws that reduces the number of directors from 13 to 9. 

This change will help facilitate having a more manageable board size while still supporting enough directors to represent our diverse membership. The proposed Bylaw changes are posted on here our website for your review.

We will be discussing this proposed change at our February Board meeting on Tuesday, February 18th at Rossmoor Park. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. After the discussion, Association members present will vote to approve or reject the proposed changes.

As soon as I entered the gym on Monday, Jan. 13, I was met with the seating of my first assembly at Los Alamitos High School. 

I heard the band playing songs that I recognized — “Bad Romance,” “Seven Nation Army” and others — which was a cool experience to walk into. I noticed the giant 2000s-themed posters the ASB team made for each grade level hanging above the bleachers: freshmen were “Camp Rock,” sophomores were “Hannah Montana,” juniors were “Teen Beach Movie” and seniors were “High School Musical,” which was very nostalgic and perfect for the theme.

The assembly began with Sound FX choir singing the national anthem, which was comforting to listen to as the entire student body stood and faced the flag. My last school didn’t do that... Read the rest here...
