Our weather should be dry for the weekend, though the sun may not show up much. Superbowl Sunday will be mostly cloudy so if you are not a football fan (and don't care about those $8 million per minute commercials, mostly in the first half), then you can get out while most folks are glued to the game. It should be epic with all the talent on the field.

December 2024 RWC Student of the Month

Alexandra (AKA Ally) Hatakeyama, Los Alamitos High School Student of the Month for December 2024 and was honored at the Rossmoor Woman’s Club’s monthly luncheon in December at The Grande Events Center in Long Beach. Ally was presented a scholarship check for $1000 at the luncheon by Michelle Wittenberg (see photo on right).

RWC Tree Planting in Fullerton's Craig Park

Craig Regional Park in Fullerton has 21 new trees, thanks to the California Federation of Women's Clubs' Orange District. Individual clubs  in the district -- including the Rossmoor Woman's Club -- donated money to buy the trees, which were planted after a ceremony on Tuesday. RWC board member Sandy Tessier (who is also CFWC vice president) wields a ceremonial shovel in the foreground here, with District President Colleen Janssen doing the same next to her. Thanks to District environment chair Linda Holman (next to Colleen) for spearheading the project!.

Bylaw Change: To Reduce Number of Directors

At the January Board meeting, the RHA Directors unanimously passed a change to the Association Bylaws that reduces the number of directors from 13 to 9. 

This change will help facilitate having a more manageable board size while still supporting enough directors to represent our diverse membership. The proposed Bylaw changes are posted on here our website for your review.

We will be discussing this proposed change at our February Board meeting on Tuesday, February 18th at Rossmoor Park. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. After the discussion, Association members present will vote to approve or reject the proposed changes. 

Rossmoor Farmers Market - Thursday 4-7

On Thursday the Rossmoor Certified Farmers Market will be in Rush Park from 4:00 to 7:00. Produce and food vendors (like yummy organic honey) along with craft and care merchants will be there to provide samples and information about their products. Please come check out the goods either as a "whistle stop" or stay a while and visit with your neighbors. It's good either way. See you Thursday at Rush!

The audience is waiting, grabbing their seats, excited for the show. The lights fade, complemented by the cheers roaring from the theater. Expressive colors paint the stage, dramatically illuminating the singers standing. They begin, filling the auditorium with beautiful music, changing their audience forever. 

This is the spirit of the Los Alamitos High School choir.

The LAHS show choirs’ spotlight show, “What a Wonderful World,” is this week! Be sure to catch all of LAHS’ different choirs performing in the PAC; this show is one you won’t want to miss. Tonight, come to the LAHS Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. or Saturday at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. to see a show like no other!

Joshua Protzmann is a freshman at LAHS and is very involved in the show choir program at the high school. He is in the Sound FX, Xpressions and Xtreme show choirs.

“The stories we’re telling with our dance and singing are really emotional,” Protzmann said.

Each choir level has been memorizing dances and training their voices in preparation to present the skills they have honed since the beginning of the school year. These same performance sets will be used when the choirs go to their upcoming competitions... Read the rest here...
