Los Alamitos High senior Joseph Claypool has packed a lot into his high school years—starting on the soccer field and finishing at the podium.
Joseph kicked things off with two years playing soccer for both Los Al and his club team, FC Premier. He sharpened his skills, made lifelong friends, and
even scored a game-winning goal against Huntington Beach (no big deal). Though he’s since hung up his cleats, he credits soccer with teaching him discipline, teamwork, and how to celebrate without pulling a hamstring.
Off the field, Joseph has taken on leadership roles in several clubs, including the Pickleball Club, the Kindness Collective, and National Honor Society. But his most public-facing gig? Serving as the ASB Student
Representative to the Board of Education—earning him the campus nickname “Student Rep.” Each month, he briefed the Board on school life, gaining confidence and solid public speaking chops along the way.
The Rossmoor Woman’s Club is proud to recognize Joseph’s spirit of involvement, leadership, and humility (just don’t ask him about that Huntington goal—he will tell you the story). More from Joseph here.
