The rest of the week looks like we are heading for a warm up as our mid-week temps are projected to be in the mid-80s before cooling back into the mid-70s by next weekend. Pretty normal for this time of the year.

It's street sweeping week here in Rossmoor. That means all vehicles must be removed form the ODD sides of the streets on Monday and the EVEN sides on Tuesday to help our sweeping company get their job done. Thanks for keeping our streets clear to be cleaned.

The Youth Center Leadership Academy!

Each summer The Youth Center holds their Leadership Academy. The Academy is geared for teens from 15 to 19, is an amazing program that provides high school students and graduates with specialized training on how to handle real-world challenges outside of high school. Rossmoor Graduation Parade Registration

Remember if you are or know a graduating member of the Class of 2025, please register your vehicle for the Rossmoor Graduation Parade that will be held on Saturday, May 31st. You can register here. This parade is open to all members of the Class of 2025, not just Los Al graduates. So, if the Grad would like to be celebrated, please do sign up.

LAHS Film Department's 'Free Trial' Set To Debut

The Los Alamitos High School film department is premiering its fifth annual student short film, titled “Free Trial.” This student-made film will debut June 7 at the Bay Theatre on Main St., with show times disclosed closer to the opening date. 

The film team is excited to premiere at an official theater with a red carpet and fancy attire. In previous years, the premiere has been hosted in the LAHS Performing Arts Center. “Free Trial” will be part of a community film festival, shown with middle school and alumni films.

The short film was written by Joey Ito and directed by Abigail Zidonis. They are dedicating immeasurable time to creating the short film and guiding others in the process. The film stars freshman Dutch Stephens, sophomore Jayden Villa, junior Evan Pagan and junior Mason Potter. 

Since December, around 100 students have been working on the short film, writing and revising the script. The production is a long process, including working on the script, auditioning and choosing actors, filming and editing. The process is challenging, pushing the students and giving them a unique professional experience.

2025 Los Al District Hero of the Heart!

Every year, the Los Alamitos Unified School District selects one extraordinary individual or organization to be honored as our District Hero of the Heart

While it was tough to keep it a surprise, it will come as no surprise to our community that no one is more deserving than our very own Board Member extraordinaire… Mr. Chris Forehan!!

Affectionately known as “Papa,” Chris is the heart of Los Al — showing up, cheering loud, supporting all, and always leading with kindness, humility, and heart. He embodies what it means to be extraordinary and lives out the spirit of service in everything he does.

Congratulations Chris! You inspire all of us!
