Community Calendar RHA Board Meeting: Tuesday, November 18th, 7:00 p.m. - In Person at Rossmoor Park Rossmoor Red Cross Blood Drive, Wednesday, November 19th, 9:00-3:00, Rush Park Rossmoor CSD Board Meeting: Tuesday, December 9th 7:00 pm Rush Park Rossmoor's Free Get Shredded Event, Saturday, January 31st 8:00 - Noon, Lee School
After we get another shower or two on Monday, mostly early evening, our weather should clear until Thursday afternoon into Friday morning when the next round of showers should arrive. If we meet the projections, this should be the rainiest November in 40 years, and may become the wettest November in recorded history. And It's Sweeper Week too! Yes, indeedy it is... Which is really great timing as the rains and winds have filled many of our streets with a large load of leaves. This time of year is the hardest on our sweeping company as the sweeper's hoppers fill up quickly making the trucks have to leave to empty out before continuing. When the streets are clear, the sweepers can
do a better job of cleaning up Rossmoor. So, please move your vehicles and let the sweepers work! (Monday ODD sides get swept, Tuesday the even sides get swept - easy right?) Thanks for the extra effort this week.
RCSD Board Appoints Landers as District's GM
The Rossmoor Community Services District Board has appointed Sharon L. Landers as its General Manager, following her service as Interim GM since May 2025. The RHA is glad to welcome Ms Landers on a more permanent basis to manager
our District. Stability and forward progress is critical for Rossmoor's parks and facilities and we have already seen her impact on Rossmoor. Landers brings more than twenty-five years of senior executive public service experience, including leadership roles as City Manager of Carson, Assistant City Manager of Irvine, and Interim Executive Officer for the Bay Area Air Quality Management
District, which serves nine counties throughout the region. In just a few months with Rossmoor, Landers has already helped accelerate several long-standing community priorities. She completed the planning phase for the Rossmoor Park Canopy project—slated to break ground this December—identified cost-saving opportunities within the budget, and re-established long-term planning and policy
practices that support steady stewardship of the community’s parks and shared infrastructure. Residents have noted her clear communication style and her thoughtful, steady approach to community concerns. More on Sharon and the District
here.
Rossmoor Community Resources Forum
The RCSD has pulled together a great group of resources for the community to connect with for this inaugural Community Resources Forum. If you have questions about our community, this is the place to bring them. There will be experts from OC Fire, OC Sheriff's Department, OC Vector & Mosquito Control, OC
Public Works and a late addition of West County CERT (think preparedness for your family). This is a drop in style event that runs between 5 and 7 with some short presentations. Elected officials too!A number of our RCSD Directors plan to attend the event along with our RCSD
GM Sharon Landers. If you have questions about our Rossmoor parks and facilities, these are the people to ask - in person. And our First District Supervisor Janet Nguyen and Assemblyperson Tri Ta are also scheduled to attend. Find out more - stop by between 5 and 7 on
Thursday evening.

605-Katella Construction Update - 11/7/2025
We will update our 605-Katella Project page when we get updates from the OCTA.
Please always check their website for the latest information on closures and detours. Construction continues on the I-605/Katella Avenue Interchange
Project. Last week, crews completed roadway and sidewalk removals along eastbound Katella Avenue and are now performing excavation activities in the area. To prepare the new roadway, they have dug down approximately four feet to create a solid foundation before rebuilding the roadway. Here’s what to expect this week: Over the next few
months, crews will be working behind k-rail on eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue between the freeway and Epson Way. Work includes relocating utilities, reconstructing the sidewalks and performing roadway work to make room for a new bike lane.
Eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue have both been reduced to three lanes between the northbound I-605 ramps and Epson Way during this phase of construction. Motorists may experience traffic delays and should allow extra time to reach their destinations. Please use caution while traveling through the construction
area.
Work hours are 6.a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend and night work may be required for some
activities. As with any construction project, the public may experience noise, vibration and lighting for nighttime construction operations. |
Upcoming Closures Please plan ahead and expect delays during these times. The following closures are expected to be in place nightly beginning as soon as 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday, November 17 through Friday, November 21 (into Saturday morning): Outside lanes on eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue/Willow Street, at least one lane will be open to traffic at all times
Outside lane on northbound and southbound I-605 at Katella Avenue/Willow Street; at least three lanes will be open to traffic at all times

Northbound I-605 loop and straight off-ramps to eastbound and westbound Katella Avenue - click here to view detour
Southbound I-605 loop and straight on-ramps from Katella Avenue - click here to view detour

Retaining Wall Construction - Construction on a new retaining wall along the northbound I-605 on-ramp continues with crews
performing structural excavation and shoring activities through the end of this month. This type of wall is called a “Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall,” which will use soil reinforcement techniques to strengthen and support the newly realigned on-ramp.
Ever wonder why the I-605/Katella Avenue Interchange Project is so important? This project will improve travel for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians by: - Modifying northbound and southbound ramps at Katella Avenue
- Adding Class II bike lanes in both directions
- Enhancing sidewalk connectivity between Coyote Creek Channel and Epson
Way
- Constructing ADA curb ramps with new signage and crosswalks

HUGS For our Students (& Schools)
We arrived at ROP Fire Technology as they began their skills stations for the day. Students practiced knots, harness-tying, suiting up and securing patients in stokes baskets. Regional Occupational Program (ROP) classes are uniquely
designed to prepare students to enter the labor force immediately after graduation. Fire tech serves as a standalone class, but students who take EMR and EMT can earn their paramedic license upon graduation. Mr. Weatherman, the Fire Tech teacher, is in charge of making sure the students are performing their assigned tasks correctly and guiding them in the right direction. He has been a certified paramedic since 2011. Here's the rest of the great photos and story.
