Los Al Drama Presents: The Addams Family
Halloween is one of the most beloved holidays in Rossmoor, bringing out creativity, costumes, and candy galore. But while it’s full of festive fun, Halloween also has a spooky side when it comes to the environment. From candy wrappers and costumes to single-use decorations, much of what we use during this season ends up in landfills—or worse, polluting our
oceans. Unlike wastewater from our homes, which is treated before it re-enters the environment, anything that goes into our storm drain system flows directly to the beach in Seal Beach without any treatment. That means every bit of trash left on the street or washed down a drain has the potential to harm wildlife and water
quality. But here’s the good news: you can still have a blast this Halloween while making smart, sustainable choices that protect our planet. Whether you’re trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, or hosting a party, these five simple tips will help make your Halloween greener—and cleaner—for everyone. Click here for the 5 simple tips...

605-Katella Construction Update - 10/11/2025
We will update our 605-Katella Project page when we get updates from the OCTA.
Please always check their website for the latest information on closures and detours. Construction continues on the I-605/Katella Avenue Interchange
Project. Here’s what to expect this week: Eastbound Katella Avenue - Starting as early as Monday, October 13, crews are expected to remove the sidewalk on eastbound Katella Avenue between Epson way and the freeway. Once complete, they will excavate the roadway to make room for the new bike lane.
Eastbound Katella Avenue has been reduced to three lanes between the northbound I-605 off-ramp and Epson Way. Please use caution while traveling through the construction area.

Sidewalk Access - While the sidewalks on eastbound and westbound Katella are under construction,
pedestrians can use a protected walkway on eastbound Katella, which serves as a temporary pedestrian detour route. Click the image below to view a larger version of the pedestrian detour.
Retaining Wall Construction - Construction on a new retaining wall along
the northbound I-605 on-ramp is underway with crews performing structural excavation and shoring activities through the end of this month. This type of wall is called a “Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall,” which will use soil reinforcement techniques to strengthen and support the newly realigned on-ramp.
Ever wonder why the I-605/Katella Avenue Interchange Project is so
important? This project will improve travel for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians by: - Modifying northbound and southbound ramps at Katella Avenue
- Adding Class II bike lanes in both directions
- Enhancing sidewalk
connectivity between Coyote Creek Channel and Epson Way
- Constructing ADA curb ramps with new signage and crosswalks

Griffin Gazette: LAHS choir kicks off the year with ‘The Start of Something Big’ Katie Arnoult, Co-Editor-in-Chief for the
Los Al Griffin Gazette reports on the Los Al Choir's‘ presentation of 'The Start of Something Big’ . You can read the full story here on the Gazette website
With powerful vocals, dazzling costumes and distinctive choreography, the Los Alamitos High School show choir program kicked off the 2025-2026 season with “The Start of Something Big” as the first concert of the year. The shows took place from Thursday, October 2 to Saturday, October 4, and choir students stunned audiences
with raw talent and outstanding performances. With the entire concert centered around Broadway songs and musicals, show-goers got to witness performances of beloved productions such as “Mamma Mia!”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Hamilton”, “West Side Story” and more. In Act I, the mix of songs and sets conveyed positive messages of hope, love and dreaming big; Act II shifted the scene to add in
themes of identity, revolution and courage.
“I think it was an amazing show. (Both) Act I and Act II were equally fantastic,” said a choir student’s parent.
“The Start of Something Big” featured a variety of performance styles, from solos to large groups and everything in between, showcasing the array of talent in the choir program. Audiences were captivated by the beauty of individual voices in songs such as “If I Loved You” by Ashlynne Mulligan and “Grow for Me” by Devan
Medina. Duets, like “Flight” by Jenna Currey and Emily Gail and “Stay Gold” by Cody and Noah McKenzie, brought intricate harmonies. Finally, bold group performances like “Candela” by the Xpressions and SoundFX choirs and “Walking in Space” by the Connexion choir highlighted the power of performing as a team. This year’s Broadway show also featured an a cappella song – “First Burn” sung
by Maddie Diggle, Emily Gail, Sam Gonzalez, Sofia Guetterman and Jasmine Yune – showing that even performances without instrumentals can still be impactful. This year’s Broadway show challenged what a typical choir show looks like, especially in Act II. In some songs, such as “Breathe” performed by Sam Gonzalez, student singers were accompanied by guest guitar player Thomas Dohner,
highlighting not only the vocals but also the instrumentals that make up a choir concert. What’s more is that... ...Here's the rest of the story.
