Hi
As we close in on Thanksgiving (yes, it's just a week away now) and all the Black Friday sales and pre-Christmas events, let's remember that Saturday 11/28 is #SmallBizSat when we are encouraged to shop small and dine local. This helps out our local small businesses which are critical to local
employment and our local economy. Shop and dine in local small businesses and franchises in Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, and Seal Beach and keep your tax dollars at home.
Did the Street Sweeper Miss Your Street? Some residents have noted the street sweeper has skipped their street. If you notice your street has been
skipped on the 1st or 3rd Monday of the month, please call the RCSD office (562.430.3707) and let them know. We pay for the sweeper service, let's make sure all of our streets get swept.
Rossmoor WinterFest Mark your calendars for a fun night at Rush Park. The RCSD
and the RHA invite you to the Rossmoor WinterFest on Friday December 11th. Kicking off at 6:00 p.m. This is going to be a great event with arts & crafts for the kids, a bounce house, choir performances by students from both middle schools, and a live
DJ.
Plan on grabbing some dinner from one of the fine food trucks, then check out the art & crafts that will be available for the making. Don't miss the tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. and get your photo with Santa after checking out his reindeer - why go to a mall and mess with all the crowds? Stay here in the neighborhood and get your pictures
here.
Then hop a trolley ride and check out some of the best decorates homes in the neighborhood with your friend and family. Then you can close out your evening with a cool screening of Elf in the auditorium. A very cool new tradition is starting in Rossmoor...
The RHA Emergency Prep Team's last meeting for 2015 is tonight (Thursday November 19th at 7:00 p.m.) at Rush Park. This is the last meeting of the year and promises to be informative. We will be discussing how earthquake and flood insurance really works and what coverage you may need. Come join us.
The Emergency Prep Town Hall
Meeting is now available to watch from your computer or mobile device directly from our site. Check it out here Sewer

There have been a number of complaints about sewer smells in the tract, especially in the area around Lee and Weaver schools. Rossmoor resident Brad Hakala has stepped up to coordinate the tracking of the sewage smells along with contacting the RCSD and
RHA.
In response, the RCSD contacted the Orange County Sanitation Districts and had an engineer come out to check out sewer lines and determine whether our sewer lines were a problem in any manner.
Brad received a call from the County engineer who stated that there was no blockage in
our lines. The engineer also tested the lines for gas leakage, and could not find anything. So, that was good in the sense that it rules out our own sewer lines. And thanks to the RCSD for their quick response to the request.
Thus far, it’s appearing that the culprit of the smell is the Long Beach Wastewater Reclamation Plant which is located south of Willow and
just west of the 605 freeway. This is not scientifically definitive, but it’s appearing that this is the source of the smell. In communication with the RSD, they were fairly definitive about this, and also informing us that our sewage is handled by Orange County Sanitation Districts (Fountain Valley). Getting this resolved is important both for the health of our residents and the school
children.
If you smell any sewage, please contact Brad (bhakala@hakala-law.com) to let him know when (date and time) and where
you were at the time. If you have experienced the smells here in Rossmoor in the past, please let him know where you live so he can help determine the most often effected areas.
Thanks and we will update the community as new information becomes available or you can join the discussion in NextDoor Rossmoor

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30.
That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
