[rha] Coyotes, Recycling, & WinterFest Recap

Published: Wed, 12/16/15

Hey there

Since we are in countdown mode these days:
  • there's 3 days to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • there's 10 days to Christmas
  • there's only 16 days to the end of 2015
With 2016 just around the corner, and schools everywhere going on winter break in the next week, the holiday rush is upon us. And the cold temperatures over the past few evenings have reminded some of what real winter weather is really like. Well at least SoCal winters.

Rossmoor WinterFest was a wonderful event last Friday (see photos and recap below) and the Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration is in full swing with the results and Hot-Spot map coming a bit later this week.

  • Rossmoor Recycles - 12/19 8:00 a.m. to Noon. It's a week early this month due to the Christmas weekend.

  • Sweeper Monday - 12/21 - remember to move your vehicles off Rossmoor streets.

Coyotes are Out & About
Make sure that you watch your pets and stay alert as there have been a number of confirmed coyote sightings in the past couple of days in Rossmoor. On Monday there are a good sized coyote seen at the north end of the tract about 3:00 PM and there have been a few reports of pet loss. The coyote gates in the drainage ditches should be closed soon, but that does not eliminate the risk

Upcoming Dates to Note
We have a number of events coming up that you will want to put on your calendar. Check them out:
  • Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration - 12/17, Hotspot Maps available
  • Rossmoor Recycles - Saturday 12/19, 8:00-Noon @ Rush Park
  • Sweeper Monday - Monday 12/21
And of course the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk each Tuesday morning, that it is not raining, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Rush Park.

2015 Rossmoor WinterFest
Image
Rossmoor WinterFest 2015 was a smashing success with more than 500 neighbors attending on a brisk evening at Rush Park.  Live reindeer, Santa, singing, food, crafts and fun were all part of the evening. The lighting of the Christmas Tree was a real ahh! moment. Many thinks to the RCSD staff and the many volunteers who pulled this wonderful event together for Rossmoor.

Check out the photos here on the RHA website and make plans to join us next year!

Rossmoor Walk & Talk

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk  meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.

The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out.

It's a real Win-Win
Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win.

Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages.

The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park.

If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
