Hi
Can you believe it's the middle of February and we've already had a week of warm, mid-80's weather? It's nice to not be worried about the cold and snow that's for sure. It's time to get outside and
get some exercise. Maybe start getting your yard ready for spring?
Lot's of fun things things coming up in the next few weeks. We have the Emergency Prep Forum on Thursday where we will hear about ham radios and how easily you can get a ham operators license so you can stay in touch with family and friends even when the phone and cell lines are jammed or down. It promises to be a fun and informative evening. Won't you join us? This
Thursday, February 18th at Rush Park. We start at 7:00 p.m.
We also have the Women's Symposium on Tuesday March 8th and the Be More Healthy Expo on Saturday March 19th. More details on both of these events can be found in the articles below.
McAuliffe Middle School Jazz Band Rummage Sale We
also have a shot term request to support the McAuliffe Middle School Jazz Band. They are raising funds to cover transportation costs and festival fees for the award winning group. See below for details. The rummage sale is February 20th and your donations are needed ASAP.
Sheriff's Crime Report to
RCSD Our OC Sheriff's Department liaison Lt. Gunzel gave his 4th Quarter Rossmoor crime report to the RCSD at their February 9th meeting. Generally our largest crime challenge is as Rossmoor residents, we leave our vehicles and windows open and unlocked. The report shows 75% of the thefts in the 4th quarter were crimes of opportunity where vehicles and
house doors were left open or unlocked.
Be smart, lock your vehicles and doors at your home and do not leave any valuables in your vehicles (especially visible to would be thieves).
Please lock your vehicle doors and
windows!
RHA Membership We are still working to collect the 2016 RHA dues. If you have already renewed your membership, we want to tank you very much. Your dues are what allow us to provide the scholarships and other investments we make into our community. It's because of you the RHA exists. Thank you
very much.

We are continuing to hear about coyote sightings, especially in the north end of Rossmoor. Many of these sightings have been during the mid-day. Please be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight).
Additionally, report any sightings to the Rossmoor Community Service District at 562.430.3707 or rcsd@rossmoor-csd.org with your name, address, phone number, time and date of the sighting, along with a brief
description.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30.
That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
