Our Rossmoor Community Festival is coming up fast, Sunday May 1st - May Day - from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rush Park.
It will be a great time for everyone in the
neighborhood.
And we need your help and expertise to pull the Festival off. From ride ticket sales to general guest directions and assistance and supervising our fun games and rides, we need your help.
Even if you can lend a hand for just a couple of hours, it will make
a big difference in making our Festival a success. Plus, you’ll fill your Sunday with a bit more fun! Click here to find out more.

Rossmoor Community Festival - 2016 |
The 2016 Rossmoor Community Festival is coming very soon - Sunday May 1st from 10:00 to 4:00 at Rush Park. Join us for the day and experience the fun, rides, carnival games, neighborhood service providers, community groups, food trucks, live entertainment, Dog Parade, and Classic Car Show.
The Festival brings together fun and activities for the whole family including rides, carnival games, rides, and of course a chance to see your neighbors. In addition,
Festival attendees always enjoy these highlights: - Entertainment – Local artists, bands, choirs, and performers all take the stage to entertain the Festival goers. If you or your organization is interested in on of the entertainment slots during the day and being seen by many of the hundreds of Festival attendees.
- Classic Car Show – Sign-up to show your classic vehicle TODAY. There’s no entry fee and the Festival awards trophies in many categories each year. There are some space limitations, so contact Lee Lindquist (leelindquist@socal.rr.com) right away or sign up online - Registration is free.
- Dog Parade – Dress up your dog for the famous Dog Parade. Sign up on site at the Festival starting at noon. There’s no entrance fee and great prizes will be awarded.
- Food – There are a good number of food choices from gourmet food trucks to more traditional food booths, the Festival has
everything you’d expect in the way of food, and maybe even some (healthy) things that you would not. Plan on checking out what’s on the menu this year!
- Information & Education – The Festival hosts a fair number of community organizations and neighborhood service providers who are available to answer your questions about their expertise and pass along free items when you
stop by their booth. From how to be safer in your home to how adjusting your back could possibly help you breathe better, these local experts are here to help improve your life. If you are one of these experts, please apply here to have your own booth at this year’s Festival - but there's only a few booth spaces
left.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at
Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you
out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least
extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. Be Aware - Coyotes Are Here

We are continuing to hear about coyote sightings, especially in the north end of Rossmoor. Many of these sightings have been during the mid-day. Please be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight).
There have been fewer sightings over the past week, which is nice, but
could be the quiet before the storm. Fish and Game officials warn that this quiet time is likely due to the spring breeding cycle.
The RCSD, RHA, and Supervisor Steel along with state and county agencies are developing a Wildlife Watch plan for Rossmoor. Details will be available in the next few weeks and we will be seeking your participation in creating a safe and humane solution to the challenge we face. Be on the look out for
more information here and on the RHA and RCSD websites.
Additionally, report any sightings to the Rossmoor Community Service District at 562.430.3707 or rcsd@rossmoor-csd.org with your name, phone number, time, date and location of the sighting, along with a brief description of what you
saw happening.

The rains and warm weather have provided many new breeding grounds for the invasive mosquitoes we first saw here in Rossmoor back in October
PLEASE do the following: - CALL AND REPORT (714.971.2421) if you see any small, black and
white mosquitoes or if you are bitten by mosquitoes during the day!
- Search for and discard any containers, cans, buckets, or old tires around the home
- Remove any water dishes from beneath potted plants and drill drain holes in all decorative flower pots
- Dump and drain any standing water around the home
- Use a rag and bleach to wipe down the containers thoroughly to remove any
eggs
- Do not store water in uncovered buckets or rain Ensure rain barrels are completely sealed to prevent mosquitoes from entering.
- Empty bird baths and small fountains completely or clean them thoroughly every 3 days
- Clean out rain gutters and lawn drains to ensure water does not collect
- Water plants at the bottom near the soil, not the top

Generally our largest crime challenge is as Rossmoor residents, we leave our vehicles and windows open and unlocked.
The latest report shows 75% of the thefts were crimes of opportunity where vehicles and house doors were
left open or unlocked.
Be smart, lock your vehicles and doors at your home and do not leave any valuables in your vehicles (especially visible to would be thieves).
Please lock your vehicle doors and windows!
