Hi
As most of you are aware, we are seeing an increase in coyote activity and reports. Please protect your pets by keeping them indoors or be with them when they are
outside. Also, please do not leave food outside for your pets - you're feeding the coyotes too. More info can be found here on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch site.
July is a busy month at Rush Park with summer events for the whole family. Tomorrow evening we have Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys at 6:00 followed by the Disney film
Inside Out. Then on the following weekend (7/23 & 24) we have Shakespeare in the Park presenting Othello and Cymbeline. Get more info on these events.
Sweeper Day on Monday (7/18) Just a quick reminder that Monday 7/18 is street sweeper day here in Rossmoor. Please remove your vehicles from all Rossmoor streets to avoid a parking ticket and hep keep
our streets clean.
LA Fitness @ the Shops Project Update As you know, the Seal Beach Planning Commission approved the LA Fitness project in the Shops @ Rossmoor center. This approval has been appealed by at least one organization. The appeal will be heard on Monday July 25th by the Seal Beach City Council. All Rossmoor
residents are encouraged to attend and express your opinions and concerns regarding this project.
Water Conservation Update Good News! The steps we have taken to
conserve water along with the rain the northern and center parts of the sate received this winter have paid off. We can water 3 days a week, up from the two days we had been alloted. Please continue to be "water wise" and conserve when you can. We still need to reduce our water consumption by 9% over 2 years ago.
West Nile Virus &
Mosquitoes Mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus continue to spread in the western part of Orange County. Make sure to use mosquito repellent when outdoors at dusk. Get the details from OC Vector Control here.
Local
Elections - Filing period opens next weekYes, it’s the election season and let all of the opinions and pomp fly. Worst
case it will be entertaining and the best case is that we get to have our voices heard. Especially locally.
Local Elections for the Los Alamitos School Board (3 of 5 seats) and the Rossmoor Community Services District (also 3 of 5 seats) will be held along with the general election on November 8, 2016.
Those interested in running for these important positions can find out more from the Run for Office website (LAUSD here and RCSD here). While this site is not official, it is a good place to start your research process into what it takes to run for one of these leadership positions.
The filing window for these positions is between July 18th and August 12th. Additional questions can be answered by the Orange County Registrar of Voters-Elections at 714.567.7600 or via email: rovwebmaster@rov.ocgov.com
There are some requirements for both of these boards, so if you are interested, now is the time to
find out what needs to be done to get your name on the ballot in November. Get started at the links above.

In all, over 38.3 million people are expected to participate in “America’s night Out against Crime”. National
Night Out 2016 corporate sponsors are ADT and Nextdoor.com. From 6 to 8 p.m. on August 2nd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Rossmoor, Los Alamitos and Seal Beach along with neighborhoods across the nation, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, and Seal Beach will be hosting one joint event at the Old Ranch Center in front of Target. National Night is designed to: - Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National project Coordinator Matt Peskin, said “This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. On NNO, we invite neighborhoods nationwide to join us in Giving Crime & Drugs A Going Away Party.” Contact: Rhonda Boggess, RHA-Emergency Preparedness Chair (562) 799-1401

The number of coyote sightings in Rossmoor increasing. Please be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
The RCSD, RHA,
and Supervisor Steel along with our state and county public safety agencies have developed a Wildlife Watch plan for Rossmoor. We held a team meeting last week to discuss reporting and our next steps. If you would like to be a part of our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing and how you can help, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout
Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at
Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you
out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least
extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
