Hi
Its recycling day tomorow, Saturday 6/25. That's right Rossmoor Recycles is tomorrow from 8:00 AM to Noon at Rush Park. Also, as you may have head, File Deopt will be
there to help you rid yourself of those boxes of paper you need to get shredded. See the notes below for details.
Have a terrific weekend while you're at it. We should have great weather to get outdoors.
Remember our Summer Events in July and August including concerts, movies and
RCSD Special Board Meeting
The
Rossmoor Community Services district will hold a special meeting to discuss the now approved LA Fitness club in the Shops At Rossmoor. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Rush Park. The public is invited and the agenda can be found here.
Local ElectionsYes, it’s the
election season and let all of the opinions and pomp fly. Worst case it will be entertaining and the best case is that we get to have our voices heard. Especially locally.
Local Elections for the Los Alamitos School Board (3 of 5 seats) and the Rossmoor Community Services District (also 3 of 5 seats) will be held along with the general election on November
8, 2016.
Those interested in running for these important positions can find out more from the Run for Office website (LAUSD
here and RCSD here). While this site is not official, it is a good place to start your research process into what it takes to run for one of these leadership positions.
The filing window for these positions is between July 18th and August 12th. Additional questions can be answered by the Orange County Registrar of Voters-Elections at 714.567.7600 or via email: rovwebmaster@rov.ocgov.com
There are some requirements for both of these boards, so if you are
interested, now is the time to find out what needs to be done to get your name on the ballot in November. Get started at the links above.
Rossmoor Recycles + Document Shredding As usual our Rossmoor Recycles program will take places at Rush Park on the last Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. This month
that's June 25th.
An exciting addition....
Starting this month The File Depot - A locally owned company that specializes in affordable document storage, scanning and shredding with exceptional customer
service, will join our program to help you clear your home and garage of those unwanted papers and financial documents that are too sensitive to put in the trash or recycle. These would include old tax forms and documents, checks and check registers, bills, and other legal documents. It's simply smarter to get those old documents out of your home.
The good folks at The File Depot will take your banker box sized boxes and shred them for a Rossmoor Special
price of just $6 per box. And what's even nicer, they will take any box or bag of paper you want shredded for just 24 cents a pound (that's less than a third of the cost per pound of your most local shredding options).
Articles Below... And be sure to check out our articles below on Rossmoor Recycles, our free summer concerts and films at Rush Park, National Night Out, and an update on our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program.

The number of coyote sightings in Rossmoor is is expected to increase in the coming weeks as the female coyotes begin to train their pups to hunt. Please be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO
NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
The RCSD, RHA, and Supervisor Steel along with our state and county public safety agencies have developed a Wildlife Watch plan for Rossmoor. We held our first orientation meeting on 5/31 for those that expressed an interest. If you would like to be a part of our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing and how you can help, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.
We will be getting more
information our to the neighborhood here and on the RHA & RCSD websites in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at
Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you
out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least
extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
