Hi
There have been a number of conversations about the homeless or transient people who are using the flood control tunnels that go under the 605 Freeway as access
points into Rossmoor. The RHA, RCSD, OC Sheriff's Department and our 2nd District Supervisor's office are aware of the problem and are taking steps to resolve it. If you see activity in or around the flood control channels or tunnels, please call the OC Sheriff's office at 714.647.7000 and report what you have seen. If you can safely take a photo or video with your phone, please so do and provide it to the Deputy when you talk with
him/her.
Earthquake! Many of you felt the 2.7 earthquake this past week here in Rossmoor. While it was no where close to "the big one" it was a gentle reminder that we live in Earthquake country and need to get and stay prepared. That is what the Great Shake
Out on October 20th is all about. Are you prepared with enough water, food and medication for at least 72 hours? If not, you may want to take a look at the information below.
Prescription Drug Take-Back
Event Do you have old, expired, or no-longer-needed prescription or over the counter drugs in your home? If you do, this event is for you:
On Saturday October 22 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM the Los Alamitos Police Department along with the Los
Alamitos Unified School District are holding a Prescription Drug Take-Back event. Now is the time to clear out those unneeded drugs and medications and dispose of them properly (oh and NEVER flush them). More details can be found here

Participating is a great way for your family or organization to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes– wherever you live, work, or travel. ShakeOut is also a major activity of America's PrepareAthon!
ShakeOut has succeeded in preparing communities just like ours all around the world, simply because someone told another someone about it.
Whether you do that on social media, through email, by calling a friend, visiting a neighbor, or
leaving a note on a co-worker's desk, you are getting the word out there and helping to build a safer world!
We have some quick get ready videos on our site for your viewing pleasure.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have been fluctuating over the past month and we have not had any pet losses reported. Thank you for your reports and the steps you've taken to make Rossmoor a less desirable place for coyotes to frequent.
Please continue to be
careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program is continuing to collect reports and monitoring coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please do continue to report any coyote activity on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical
"fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at
Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them.
If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your
neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all
ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
