Hi
It's the holidays and if your calendar is anything like ours, it's packed between now and 2017.
We do want to remind you that Monday is street sweeper day here in Rossmoor. Please move your vehicles and let the sweepers clear all the leaves and debris off our streets.
So, on to the Rossmoor Events.
This SUNDAY is the Rossmoor Woman's Club (RWC) Holiday Home Tour and your ongoing support of the event is greatly appreciated. If you have not already picked up your tickets, if you get your tickets in advance, you can save a little. The proceeds go to support the LAUSD Scholarships the RWC provides each year.
Come join the tour 11:00 - 4:00 this Sunday (12/4) at the Ayres Hotel
Seal Beach
More information, including how to get your tickets is on their website.
Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration - 10 Years & Counting
Chris Marshall has been part of the Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration since the very beginning. He wants us to share his personal invitation with you:
Christmas 2007 wasn't that long ago, and Wow - it's been ten years now that the Rossmoor Homeowner's Association has held the Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration. So this is a very special year
to celebrate!!
All the Christmas magic, smiles and family outings checking out your homes in Rossmoor, couldn't have happened without you, so I'm incredibly grateful for your kindness of decorating your homes for kids and grandparents alike to enjoy with a few Moms, Dads, Aunts and Uncles thrown in!
I'm hoping again you'll participate this year. Perhaps some of you even got an early start these past couple days after Thanksgiving before today's (much needed) rain landed. This year we are going to make the celebration even more memorable with a special Judges' Christmas Bus making the rounds to determine Honorable Mentions and Recognition Award Winners. The Winter Festival has employed two trolleys
for the Christmas Lights tour, due to the popularity of the tour last year, and for the first time, the RHA will have a Christmas Lighted Bike Tour to check out the holiday homes.
Here are the key dates: RCSD Winter
Festival - Friday, December 9 RHA Christmas Judging Bus - Sunday December 11 RHA Christmas Lights Bicycle Tour - Sunday December 18
Much to be excited about, and many opportunities to share your home with Christmas holiday spectators!
Initially we called this a Christmas lights "contest" but quickly realized that none of you
decorate your homes to compete, so several years ago we changed the name to the Christmas Lights "Celebration," and we are so grateful to you for allowing the neighborhood to celebrate!
I've heard from several of you so far and would love to hear from everyone again, that you are in for our 10th
Anniversary Celebration. Send an email or call.
If you'd like to help with the event this year or in the future, I'd love to have you on the team as well.
Thanks Chris. You can contact Chris via email (rossmoorlights@gmail.com) or call him (562.370.3050) with your questions or to hep with the Celebration Team (judging, writing, having fun, etc.)
One of the things
the Celebration Team can use some help with is the descriptive writing about the homes:
Calling All Fun Writers Chris and the
Celebration Team are looking for a few residents to help us with the Christmas Lights Celebration home descriptions. The wonderful entries we receive usually need some words, a story, to bring them to life for the tour and
passersby. This is fun writing where you get to tell the story of the scene. If you are a "fun writer" please reply to this email or reach out to Chris and let us know you are interested.
Want to be part of the Celebration? The Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration is an annual tradition. And the tradition continues to grow and form new memories. Which homes and decorations will you remember from this year?
Will your home be included on this year's Celebration Map? Only
one way to join in the fun and get recognized for all your decoration efforts - Let us know about it! More details here and below. Enter your home tonight!
RHA Board Position Vacancy The Rossmoor Homeowners Association is seeking members interested in becoming a member of the Board of Directors. We have one opening for a vacated position that expires on June 30, 2017. The holder
of this position would then be eligible to run for re-election in April as an incumbent for a new two (2) year term.
To be eligible one must live in Rossmoor and have been a member of the Association for the past 6 months. Interested parties should submit their name and contact information along with a brief statement 100 words or less as to why they are

Remember the Rossmoor homes that had Santa’s sleigh and reindeer flying over the street from one house to another? Or the huge 15’ lighted Christmas tree that you could see across Rush Park? Remember the luminaries that somehow stayed lit at the entrance of Rossmoor Way, or large palm trees on the corner that were wrapped with lights to the top? Those were all
great memories driving around during Christmas past in Rossmoor.
In 2007 we started to honor the homes that take the time to create these wonderful memories for all to share. The Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration has become an annual tradition. And the tradition continues to grow and form new memories. Which homes and decorations will you remember from this
year?
The Christmas Elves begin to descend upon Rossmoor shortly after Thanksgiving and leave a Winter Wonderland for all of us to enjoy (even though they keep forgetting the snow). So, keep your eye out for the more than 30 homes that jump in each year all over the Rossmoor Neighborhood.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have been fluctuating over the past month and we have not had any pet losses reported. Thank you for your reports and the steps you've taken to make Rossmoor a less desirable place for coyotes to frequent.
Please continue to be careful
with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program is continuing to collect reports and monitoring coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please do continue to report any coyote activity on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.

Rossmoor resident Bernie Beskind coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meeting at Rush
Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be
happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at
least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.
