program will be held rain or shine on Saturday 12/31 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at Rush Park. Bring your newspapers, cans and plastic bottles and help out Rossmoor! Details below.
Coyote Sightings & Reporting It seems that with the cold the
coyotes are not in the neighborhood as much, or we are just not outside as often as we have been. I say that because there have been no coyote reports in the past month or so.

First Ever Rossmoor Christmas Lights Bike Tour Attended by over 60 bicyclists We couldn’t have asked for better winter weather. No gusty winds, no snow (well it’s Rossmoor), no blizzard storms knocking over penguin or snowmen displays. All the stars lined up for the Inaugural Rossmoor Christmas Lights Bicycle Tour this past Sunday. Using the Christmas Lights Hot Spots Map from the Rossmoor Homeowners Association website, we didn’t know how many people to expect to participate and check out lights together, as it’s never been done before. Well, we were pleasantly surprised when at least 30 residents showed up with their bikes all decorated with colored lights at Rush Park. Then at least another 30 people joined along the way. A resident said it
seemed like over 100 people were in a colorful night time bike parade. The route stopped by many of the homes on the map and received cheers from the bicyclists. Some of the favorites were the dinosaurs on Chianti Drive and the
decorated lights on Wembley Road. Greg and Gloria Miller road their bikes on the tour and said, “It was a great way to see the homes of families that put so much effort into the Christmas Celebration. It was really fun to be part of a community event, especially hearing the kids laugh and seeing the families ride together.” When we arrived at the Good Neighbor Award homes on Aceca Drive (the one with the dancing lights and music across both front lawns), the Herzog family...(click for more...)

Our next monthly Rossmoor Recycles Drive is on Saturday, December 31. Please bring your recyclable newspapers, mixed paper waste, recyclable
cans, and plastic bottles to Rush Park.
You'll be helping the environment AND putting some much-needed funds back into the Rossmoor community!
The File Depot will be NOT return to the Rossmoor Recycles event until January 2017.
We’ll see you there!

From the judges perspective this 10th Anniversary Our
Christmas Lights Celebration was by far the
most festive and fun.
Why you might ask, well, the mode of transportation was a big 45 foot long decorated
bus. We ordered a smaller scale to be slightly obnoxious, but this monster of an orange beast showed up, making the Christmas Lights judging tour even more entertaining, and commanded a conspicuous presence. Yes we are pulling in front of your wonderful house. Yes we are checking out your lights. Thank you for decorating, and You Made the Map!

At several locations, we were blatantly bribed, and it worked! The passing of the Bailey’s shot glasses, and throwing candy canes through the windows were
definitely influential and encouraged in years to come.
First Timers: Every year we have rookie families entering their home in the celebration, and this year, every rookie made the map – first time ever.
After ten years we are so grateful for the following families for
participating and decorating their homes to the extreme each of the ten years. Major thanks to Jim & Patti Harris of Burney Place (actually to everyone in the cul-de-sac) with 100% participation again. To Rich & Kay Butterfield of Salmon Drive – so much love and care go into their efforts. To Lynnette & Tim O’Bryan, who have created multiple award winning displays. Lynnette has also been a huge support, taking
Christmas Lights photos in both dry and raining conditions for us. To Jon & Vicki Hermstad, who started the arched driveways, and didn’t want any credit, just wanted to make people smile. And to Randy & Maria Leavenworth, who designed and started the Rossmoor Holiday Light Post tradition on St. Albans, only to see it blossom to over 400 Rossmoor homes standing proud in our front lawns.
Now time for the Recognition Award Winners, followed by the homes we deemed as Honorable and worth Mentioning. These are all the ones that made the Rossmoor Christmas Lights Hot Spots Map!

Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration Map Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have been fluctuating over the past month and we have not had any pet losses reported. Thank you for your reports and the steps you've taken to make Rossmoor a less desirable place for coyotes to frequent.
Please continue to be careful
with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program is continuing to collect reports and monitoring coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please do continue to report any coyote activity on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.

The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. Rossmoor residents Bernie Beskind & Herb Halling coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk &
Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
NEW WALK ADDED!
Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. at Rush Park, there is a new group of walkers. Plan to join them next Thursday to walk and talk
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about,
Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could
save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park.
