Hi
Looks like we are in for some wet weather over the next few days and through the weekend. The wet weather and high tides could create some travel issues over the next few day as well.
Please pay attention to road conditions and increase your planned travel times, if the projected weather (rain and wind) does arrive. Be smart and be safe.
Storm Warnings With very high probabilities of a few inches of rain starting tonight and running through Monday, the RCSD has released the following notice:
“Heavy rains, combined with strong winds, may cause dangerous conditions in drought-stressed trees. Therefore, RCSD advises not parking under large, mature trees during the expected
storms.”
Please take note and for the safety of you and your vehicles, please park away from the larger trees in our Rossmoor urban forest.
The 605 Village Project The 605 Village Project which has been working its way through the approval process in
Los Alamitos. This project will build a strip mall with Whole Food’s Market 365 as one of the anchor stores. The project is located on the former GTE/ SuperPages grounds on the north side of Katella between the 605 North Freeway on ramp and Oak Street and south of the Oak Middle School fields.
The City Planning Commission approved the project and there was an appeal filed by a Seal Beach resident citing that the traffic and
the signage impacts from the project have not been properly addressed.
A number of residents of Rossmoor and adjacent communities have expressed concern regarding the traffic impacts this project will create on Katella. Also of concern is the shopping center’s high pylon sign potential for glare shining onto the north section of Rossmoor.
UPDATE: The issue will be addressed at SPECIAL MEETING of the Los Alamitos City Council meeting on MONDAY JANUARY 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the Los Al Council Chambers. Please attend and voice any opinions or concerns you may have about this project.

Rossmoor residents Bernie Beskind & Herb Halling coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk &
Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
NEW WALK ADDED!
Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. at Rush Park, there is a new group of walkers. Plan to join them next Thursday to walk and talk
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about,
Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could
save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie (BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have decreased over the past couple of months. This decrease is typical for the time of year. Unfortunately, it does not indicate the coyotes are not in Rossmoor. They are still here.
For those of you who have made reports, THANK YOU. You are helping us track coyote behavior which is critical to any future removal attempts.
Please continue to be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program is continuing to collect reports and monitoring coyote behavior and
movement based on these reports. Please continue to report any coyote activity you see on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more
information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in
Rossmoor.
