Hi
Can you believe that we are just a week away from Valentine's Day? [Guys, take note. You've been reminded.]
Wow, 2017 is already speeding by. Before we know it, the Rossmoor
Community Festival will be upon us. Granted, the Festival isn't until Sunday May 7th, but it won't be long. Make a note of the date so you can plan to attend.
I looks like today's rain will get a chance to soak in before our next projected rain storm on Friday. Good for our yards and our water table. Did you know more than half of Orange County's water comes from water aquifers right here in the County? It's
true.
Thursday is a busy one for the Rossmoor community, as we have two community interest/information events:
Coffee With A Cop This Thursday, February 9th from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. the Orange County Sheriff's Department will be holding another "Coffee with a Cop" discussion session. We will be meeting at Panera Bread in the Shops at Rossmoor.
These discussions have no agenda and serve to let us get to know some of the deputies that serve and protect us. Plus, you can ask any questions you may have of them. So plan on joining us sometime between 9 and 11 next Thursday morning, grab a beverage and
maybe something to eat, pull up a chair and join the discussion.
Village 605 Project There is a community meeting on Thursday February 9 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rush Park (East Room) 3001 Blume
Drive, Rossmoor.
The meeting will focus on the current status of the Village 605 Project in Los Alamitos. There is an agenda and a moderator to keep us to the time we have. Many PTA members are attending including Trisha Ordaz, the Oak PTA President. Please plan to attend!
Upcoming Dates to Note We have a number of events coming up that you will want to put on your calendar. Check them out: - RCSD Board Meeting - Tuesday 2/14 - 7:00 p.m. Rush Park Auditorium
- RHA Board Meeting - Tuesday 2/21 - 7:00 p.m. Rossmoor Park
- Sweeper Monday
- Monday 2/27 - Remember to move your vehicles!
- Rossmoor Recycles - Saturday 2/25 - Rush Park, please bring your newspapers, mixed paper, cans and plastic bottles
And of course, the weekly Rossmoor Walk &
Talk each Tuesday morning, that it is not raining, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Rush Park.
NEW Walking Group: Thursday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. also meets at Rush
Park

LA Fitness Health Club @ The
Shops |
The Shops at Rossmoor and LA Fitness have resubmitted essentially the same proposal that was withdrawn last fall to build a 37,000 square foot facility in the parking lot behind Sprouts.
While the idea of a
gym may be okay, the impacts on Rossmoor and Seal Beach residents or live in and around the proposed project have not be adequately considered according to the letter sent to the Seal Beach Planning Commission. The full letter is here on our
website.
Coalition Against LA Fitness Project The non-profit Coalition Against LA Fitness (CALAF) is raising funds to help represent the Rossmoor and Seal Beach residents and shoppers who frequent the Shops to be heard. To find out how you can
help support CALAF, please see their website, Facebook group and Go Fund Me page.

Rossmoor residents Bernie Beskind & Herb Halling coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk &
Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
NEW WALK ADDED! Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. at Rush Park, there is a new group of
walkers. Plan to join them next Thursday to walk and talk
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really
great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie
(BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have decreased over the past couple of months. This decrease is typical for the time of year. Unfortunately, it does not indicate the coyotes are not in Rossmoor. They are still here.
For those of
you who have made reports, THANK YOU. You are helping us track coyote behavior which is critical to any future removal attempts.
Please continue to be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and NO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program is continuing to collect reports and monitoring coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please continue to report any coyote activity you see on the
Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a
magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.
The Rossmoor Homeowners Association (RHA) is a membership funded, non-profit
organization and as such relies primarily on member dues and fund-raising to cover its annual costs.
What costs?
Great question, glad you asked. The Rossmoor Homeowners Association:
