Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Just a quick few things to let you know before you get back to enjoying the long
weekend.
First, read below about the mosquito advisory from OC Vector Control. No need to take any chances.
Then the RHA will welcome Lt. Perry from the CHP to our September 19th regular meeting. This will give you an opportunity to ask about speed and parking enforcement within Rossmoor along with any other topics related to the CHP.
The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and we would not be surprised if we overflow the room. Plan to arrive early if you want a seat.
No Sweeper This Monday
Monday (9/4) is the first Monday of the month, and yet there will be no street sweepers in Rossmoor, so you don't
have to move your vehicles. Why? Because it's Labor Day of course. Enjoy your BBQs and outdoor activities with no worries about parking tickets.
However, (there's always a "however," right?) the next Monday (9/11) the sweepers will be back and clearing our gutters of standing water and the mosquitoes that
breed there. Please plan to move your vehicles on Monday 9/11.
Advisory from OC Vector Control
As the holiday weekend approaches, the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD)
reminds residents to use mosquito repellent and remove standing water to prevent further spread of West Nile virus (WNV).
Year-to-date, there are 172 WNV-positive mosquito samples in 19 Orange County cities. A total of 23 dead birds have tested positive for WNV this year. Nine confirmed human cases have been reported.
West Nile virus is transmitted to humans via the bite of infected mosquitoes, which become infected when feeding on birds carrying the virus. West Nile virus infections are often mild or asymptomatic, but the virus can cause significant cognitive and neurological symptoms in some patients, and possibly death. "If planning to spend time outdoors this Labor Day
weekend, wear mosquito repellent." said Mary-Joy Coburn, OCMVCD spokeswoman. "This simple step could save you a trip to the hospital, or even worse.”

Seal Beach know your thoughts about the LA Fitness project. Write, email, and call the Seal Beach City Council members to share your thoughts. See below for links to the contact information.
And then plan to attend the Seal Beach City Council meeting on
Monday 9/11. It's your Rossmoor. Say something.
