Hi
The agenda for Tuesday's (10/10) RCSD meeting has changed. Please see the note below.
We have a number of events coming between now and the Rossmoor Winter Festival on the second
Friday in December. Check out the notes below for the details. You won't want to miss any of them.
We are still looking for traffic signs that are hard to see because of the trees growing nearby. When you see one of these signs, please let us know the location, especially the stop signs.
To let us know, you can reply to this email or use the contact form here. Please include the intersection or street address of the sign and a photo if you can. We will work with the RCSD to get these trees trimmed. Thanks so much.
RCSD Meeting
- AGENDA CHANGE
The OCTA
update on the 405 Project has been moved to the November meeting.
This Tuesday (10/10) at the RCSD meeting there will be an Internet Safety Presentation by OCSD. This 30-minute presentation
will cover the following topics:
- The Brain
- Cyber bullying
- Digital reputation/footprint
- Pictures
- Applications
- Sexting
- Predators
- What now
The presentation is geared toward parents and older teens, though anyone online can benefit from the presentation.
In November, anyone who wants to find out more about the 405 project and voice your concerns/issue with the project, the OCTA is scheduled to present
at the October RCSD meeting (Tuesday, Nov 14, 7:00 p.m. at Rush Park). Please plan to attend and get the latest project updates and ask your questions about the project and the lane changes it will create.
This may be a really good time for Rossmoor to come together and present a united front regarding the noise regardless of your opinion about the project as a
whole.
RHA Meeting - LAUSD Update Our October guest will be the LAUSD Superintendent Dr. Sherry Kropp. Dr. Kropp will update us on the "State of the District" and answer from the Board and community. The meeting will start
at 7:00 p.m. at Rossmoor Park on Tuesday October 17. Last year we had an overflow group to hear the district update from Dr. Kropp, and we would not be surprised if we overflow the room again this year. Plan to arrive early if you want a seat.

I-405 Improvement Project |
As most of you know the I-405 enhancement project has begin with the preliminary ground and soil work. The I-405 in both directions from the I-605 to SR 73 interchange will have CalTrans crews working intermittently on the shoulders and neighboring streets. Some lane and complete freeway closures will take
place as well.
The OCTA has also released a projected schedule for the bridge work along the 16 mile project path. You can see that here. Note that none of the projected work will directly impact Rossmoor or Seal Beach Blvd. However, if you plan to drive between here and SR 73 in Costa Mesa, especially in the late night and early morning hours, you may
want to check for closures on the OCTA
website.
The OCTA plans to be at the NOVEMBER RCSD meeting on Tuesday November 14th to provide a in-person update.
We will
provide updates here as they become available.
Once the project is completed in about 2023, there will be one additional traffic lane in each direction. The current HOV lane and an additional lane will be Toll Lanes for vehicles with less than 3 riders.

Rossmoor residents Bernie Beskind & Herb Halling coordinates the weekly Rossmoor Walk &
Talk meeting at Rush Park on Tuesday mornings at 10:30. That is unless it's raining, then there's no walk.
NEW WALK ADDED! Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. at Rush Park, there is a new group of
walkers. Plan to join them next Thursday to walk and talk
The program is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. If you need a topic to talk about, Bernie will be happy to help you out. It's a real Win-Win Bernie's idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really
great people. And that is a huge win-win. Come join us! The Rossmoor Walk & Talk is open to all ages. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Rush Park. If you have questions, please email Bernie
(BernieB_90720@yahoo.com), or come see him on Tuesdays at 10:30 at Rush Park. Bernie will be the energetic guy with glasses, short hair, long in years and walking slowly.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have decreased to almost zero over the past couple of months. The coyote gates are down and that is a big help. Other easier food sources seem to be available to the local coyotes as well. Unfortunately, reduced sightings/reports does
not indicate the coyotes are not in Rossmoor. They are still here.
For those of you who have made reports, THANK YOU. You are helping us track coyote behavior which is critical to any future removal attempts.
Please
continue to be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within your sight, and DO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our
Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program continues to collect reports and monitors coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please continue to report any coyote activity you see on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out
more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not
"them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.
