Earlier today, the eNews Blast incorrectly stated that the Rossmoor Recycles event was this Saturday when it is
actually taking place on Saturday March 31 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.
Apologies for the confusion.
Tonight's update on the 605 at Katella Interchange project from Chris
Boucly and his team from the OCTA was interesting. The $35-$40 million dollar project, funded by Measure M (now called OC Go) and other sources, is expected to break ground in 2032 and will be open by 2035. The advantage of getting the environmental phase completed this year is that the project is then "shovel ready" meaning it can be started any time funds become available.
There will be a public meeting on Tuesday April 24 form
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Los Alamitos Community Center (on Oak Street) where you can ask any questions you may have about the project. A report will be released prior to the public meeting that will be available for review both online and at the Los Alamitos Rossmoor Library. Details on the report will be sent out when we have them.
New Neighborhood Watch Signs The new Neighborhood Watch signs have been strategically posted throughout Rossmoor to warn would-be criminals that we call law enforcement when we see something out of the ordinary. The updated signs have replaced the signs that were originally posted last century (oooh, that sounds like a long time ago,
doesn't it?)
RHA Scholarship Applications Due Applications for the $4,000 in RHA scholarships for graduating high school students who live in Rossmoor are due by Saturday March 31. All applications (including transcripts) must be submitted via
our website here. Don't miss out on this golden opportunity. Apply here. Street Sweeping in Rossmoor As you are very likely aware, there has been a lot of discussion around the Rossmoor street sweeping schedule and the parking tickets that come along with the County's sweeping ordinance. The RCSD has put together an informative brochure on the sweeping process and the responsible parties. Even though the parking enforcement may be new to newer Rossmoor residents, the ordinance has been in place since the early 1980's so it is not anything "new."

Our next monthly Rossmoor Recycles Drive is on Saturday, March 31st. Please bring your recyclable newspapers, mixed paper waste, recyclable cans, and plastic bottles to Rush Park.
You'll be helping the environment AND putting some much-needed funds back into the Rossmoor community!

Years ago, most Rossmoor students rode their bikes or walked to school. Adults and kids biked or walked to our local restaurants, movie theater, bowling alley, shopping, beauty shops and medical offices.
In our flat and
secluded community, the Rossmoor Bike Group aims to reclaim our wonderful tree-lined streets for pedestrian activities.
JOIN US FOR LOOPS:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-9:30am 5.5 mile counterclockwise loop (see map below) Monday-Friday 2:30pm-4:30pm 4 mile clockwise loop (see map here) These times match the parking restrictions on Foster Road for a safe route. Almost all turns are Right Hand and Stop Signs are at a minimum. Join a loop at any time from any location and meet others along the way.
This is a perfect way to make friends who ride like you, escort students to school, and set up an exercise regimen. This is informal so you can make detours or coffee stops whenever you want.
JOIN US FOR GROUP RIDES:
Future group rides (check with
Nia for dates and times) will go to El Dorado Park, Town Center and Long Beach. Safety check and rules of the road will be covered before each ride. Helmets mandatory for kids and suggested for adults.
I hope to see and meet many of you peddling around. I will be the one with the bright pink helmet and
talking a lot.

I-405 Improvement Project |
As most of you know the I-405 enhancement project has begin with the preliminary ground and soil work. The I-405 in both directions from the I-605 to SR 73 interchange will have CalTrans crews working intermittently on the shoulders and neighboring streets. Some lane and complete freeway closures will take place
as well.
The OCTA has also released a projected schedule for the bridge work along the 16 mile project path. You can see that here. Note that none of the projected work will directly impact Rossmoor or Seal Beach Blvd. However, if you plan to drive between here and SR 73 in Costa Mesa, especially in the late night and early morning hours, you may
want to check for closures on the OCTA
website.
We will provide updates here as they become available.
Once the project is completed in about 2023, there will be one additional traffic lane in each direction. The current HOV lane and an additional lane will be Toll Lanes for vehicles with less
than 3 riders.

Rossmoor resident Herb Halling coordinates the two weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meet ups at Rush Park on
Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
AND
Thursday afternoons at 4:00 p.m.
Both meet at Rush Park - That is unless it's raining, then there's no
walk.
The idea is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park 1, 2, or 3 times, and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. There never seems to be a shortage of talking topics so join in the fun while you pump some blood around your body. It's a real Win-Win This great idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great
people. And that is a huge win-win. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM AND every Thursday at 4:00 PM both at Rush Park. |

Block members contribute by expanding the coverage of the Neighborhood Watch network.
The more residents who participate in the program and
are observant about their surroundings and neighborhood, the safer our community is.
All you need to do is complete the block member form and you will be added to the Neighborhood Watch network. There is no cost or obligation to you, but the benefits to you and your block could be life changing or saving.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have decreased to almost zero over the past couple of months. The coyote gates are down and that is a big help. Other easier food sources seem to be available to the local coyotes as well. Unfortunately, reduced sightings/reports does
not indicate the coyotes are not in Rossmoor. They are still here.
For those of you who have made reports, THANK YOU. You are helping us track coyote behavior which is critical to any future removal attempts.
Please continue to be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within
your sight, and DO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program continues to collect reports and monitors
coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please continue to report any coyote activity you see on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
