Hi
It looks like the weekend will be nice before we have a cooler, more cloud covered week. Get out and get moving
- enjoy this wonderful weather.
Monday is the third Monday of the month and the sweepers will be here. Please move your vehicles and trash cans from the streets so the sweepers can sweep. Thanks for your help.
605-Katella Project - Public Hearing
On
Tuesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a Public Hearing at the Los Alamitos Community Center on Oak St. for you to learn about the proposed improvements, speak to the project team, discuss study results and share comments.
Why should you care?
After all, this project is not scheduled to be completed until 2035?
Remember the 605 Village Project? Or maybe you will recall the LA Fitness project? If the community had not said, "now wait a minute - let's talk about this" we would have both projects in development.
This is that time for the 605-Katella Interchange. Once this propsal is approved and sent to CalTrans, it will be nealrly impossible to change.
There are 3 alternates being proposed: do nothing, and two ramp changes that will change traffic flow and move Katella Avenue 13 feet closer to the
north wall of Rossmoor between the freeway to the light at Civic Center Drive and Alternative #3 will actually make the traffic grade worse than it is today.
AND the proposal does not
include any changes to the height of or sound proofing for the backyard walls of those 15 Rossmoor homes on Ruth Elaine.
Don't take our word for it, read the proposal here (it's only 9 pages) and then see if it's time to speak up. Just don't scream later that you didn't know.
RHA Elections - Searching for Solution Seekers All RHA Members are invited to attend the regular April 17th RHA Board meeting where we will be taking nominations for the
2018-2020 Board of Directors. We are looking for people who are willing to look for solutions to the challenges that Rossmoor residents face and that value the many great things that make Rossmoor a great place to live. If you are an RHA member and are this kind of person, then keep reading.
There are six (6) Board seats up for election this year and we are accepting nominations for the two year term positions from now until our regular April meeting when the nominations will be closed. Once we have the nominations we will verify the nominees based on our by-laws. If there are more than six (6) qualified nominees, we will create and mail ballots to all then current RHA member households in mid-May. Election
results will be announced at our June meeting.
If you are interested in stepping up to serve the residents of Rossmoor as a representative to the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, then please reply to this email, contact the Nominating Committee Chair Art Remnet (art@rossmoor-rha.org) directly, or attend the April 17th RHA Board meeting where nominations will be accepted from
the floor.

THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!
We are all in this together. It is up to all of us to be observant for the safety of our community.
What is Neighborhood Watch?Neighborhood Watch is a cooperative partnership between the Orange County Sheriff’s
Department and Rossmoor residents and businesses to reduce crime and keep Rossmoor safe. An active Neighborhood Watch is one of the most successful and least costly crime prevention programs available.
By working with your neighbors and the Sheriff’s Department, you can help fight crime in Rossmoor the most effective way…..before it begins! Although the Sheriff’s Department
provides guidance to Neighborhood Watch groups, Rossmoor volunteers, such as you, actually run the program. What is Rossmoor’s Neighborhood Watch Program?Rossmoor’s
Neighborhood Watch Program is organized, funded and operated by the Rossmoor Homeowner’s Association (RHA). The Neighborhood Watch Program team is made up of Rossmoor community members organized into “block watches” of 20-30 homes each. We ask you
to register your home with us to help our Block Captains have the most up-to-date contact information for you. Remember, keeping Rossmoor Safe is something we all to together.

I-405 Improvement Project |
As most of you know the I-405 enhancement project has begin with the preliminary ground and soil work. The I-405 in both directions from the I-605 to SR 73 interchange will have CalTrans crews working intermittently on the shoulders and neighboring streets. Some lane and complete freeway closures will take place
as well.
The OCTA has also released a projected schedule for the bridge work along the 16 mile project path. You can see that here. Note that none of the projected work will directly impact Rossmoor or Seal Beach Blvd. However, if you plan to drive between here and SR 73 in Costa Mesa, especially in the late night and early morning hours, you may
want to check for closures on the OCTA
website.
We will provide updates here as they become available.
Once the project is completed in about 2023, there will be one additional traffic lane in each direction. The current HOV lane and an additional lane will be Toll Lanes for vehicles with less
than 3 riders.

Rossmoor resident Herb Halling coordinates the two weekly Rossmoor Walk & Talk meet ups at Rush Park on
Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
AND
Thursday afternoons at 4:00 p.m.
Both meet at Rush Park - That is unless it's raining, then there's no
walk.
The idea is simple enough, whoever attends forms groups of 2-4 people and walk around Rush Park 1, 2, or 3 times, and they talk. How long they walk, how fast they walk, and what they talk about is up to them. There never seems to be a shortage of talking topics so join in the fun while you pump some blood around your body. It's a real Win-Win This great idea creates an informal way to meet your neighbors and get some exercise at the same time. It could save or at least extend your life, plus you'll get to meet some really great
people. And that is a huge win-win. The more the merrier - Invite your friends and please spread the word. Rossmoor Walk & Talk meets are held every Tuesday at 10:30 AM AND every Thursday at 4:00 PM both at Rush Park.

Block members contribute by expanding the coverage of the Neighborhood Watch network.
The more residents who participate in the program and
are observant about their surroundings and neighborhood, the safer our community is.
All you need to do is complete the block member form and you will be added to the Neighborhood Watch network. There is no cost or obligation to you, but the benefits to you and your block could be life changing or saving.

Coyote sightings in Rossmoor have decreased to almost zero over the past couple of months. The coyote gates are down and that is a big help. Other easier food sources seem to be available to the local coyotes as well. Unfortunately, reduced sightings/reports does
not indicate the coyotes are not in Rossmoor. They are still here.
For those of you who have made reports, THANK YOU. You are helping us track coyote behavior which is critical to any future removal attempts.
Please continue to be careful with your pets (keep them indoors or within
your sight, and DO NOT leave pet food outside after feeding time).
Our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program continues to collect reports and monitors
coyote behavior and movement based on these reports. Please continue to report any coyote activity you see on the Rossmoor Wildlife Watch website.
If you would like to find out more about our Rossmoor Wildlife Watch program and discover what we are doing, please sign up for more information.
The coyote challenge we face here in Rossmoor and throughout Southern California does not have a magical "fix it" solution. It will take a community effort (that's you and me, not "them") to keep our pets safe and reduce the risks in our neighborhood. Please learn what you can do at your home and for everyone in Rossmoor.
Rossmoor. A great place to live since 1957
