It was down right hot yesterday and today looks to be very much the same. Not that we have any real room to complain, and still it's hot.

 

If you do need to be outside over the next few days, please try to avoid the hot afternoon time periods and protect yourself from the sun and heat. And regardless, make sure to drink enough water. Hydration is critically important for your health and high temperatures will take their toll on your body.  Drink up - water that is.

 

As you are likely aware, Orange County Public Works is rehabilitating a number of streets in Rossmoor between now and November.

 

All of Foster/Yellowtail and Martha Ann will be affected by this major pavement rehabilitation project.The majority of the other streets affected will be in the north end of the tract. During the projects, there will be temporary road closures and parking restrictions. Please watch for notices and roadway signs. There are details on the project and the affected streets here on our website. 

 

Southern California Edison is also replacing all of the old metal street light pole with concrete/stone poles this summer. The replacement poles have a much deeper footing and are nicer looking. It appears the new poles are a little bit shorter than the older poles, but not significantly so there should be little affect on the lighting. 

This year's National Night Out (NNO) is on August 6th starting at 5:00 p.m.

 

Previous years our NNO was held in conjunction with Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Cypress. Due to sponsoring changes, this year each city will hold their own NNO events:

Both events will end around 8:00 p.m. and will feature family entertainment, food trucks, city information booths, and an opportunity to meet the first responders who are likely to come to your door in an emergency. 

 

It's always a fun event and this year it will be smaller. Come out and enjoy the evening.

 

There have been a number of our neighbors who have shared their concerns about bike riders on Rossmoor streets ignoring stop signs and riding too quickly through the many uncontrolled intersections in the tract. Their concern is for rider safety.

Riders, please ride smart and be safe. No one wants an accident. Drivers, share the road and watch for cyclists and pedestrians (especially the younger ones who are now out of school for the summer).
