Hi
It looks like the weather will be very nice for the next week or so with typical fall temperatures in the mid-70’s to the low 80’s with lots of sun and a slight breeze and our overnight lows will be in the upper 50’s. Very nice indeed.
This Thursday is our annual Great Shake Out event. It’s a reminder to drop, cover and hold on during an earthquake and to think about getting yourself and family prepared for when the earth shakes here in SoCal.
It’s not an if, it’s a when and where for all of us. Seriously, take a few minutes and review your earthquake survival plan (do you have 5-7 days of water, food, and medicine for everyone in your family – including your pets?). Sign up for the Great Shake Out here
and then PROTECT YOURSELF and SPREAD THE WORD.
LAUSD To Create Trustee Areas
The LAUSD is considering a move to “trustee areas” or representative districts for their Board members. This would mean that each of the 5 Board seat would be assigned to a geographic area in place of the at-large type representatives the district uses today.
The RHA has presented a resolution requesting any trustee area map that is adopted have at least one area completely within Rossmoor. Since Rossmoor makes up about 22% of the district population, mathematically this should be feasible. Details and our resolution can be found on our site.
The public is invited to comment at the special public hearing tomorrow evening (10/14) beginning at 6:30 for comment. The meeting will be held at the District Board Room (10293 Bloomfield Street). The proposal is slated to be considered at the meeting on the following evening, Tuesday 10/15 also beginning at 6:30 in the District Board Room.
We encourage you to attend both of these meetings and support Rossmoor having at least one district fully within its boundaries.
