It's has been beautiful weather-wise here in Rossmoor the past few days. And it look like the nice weather will continue through the weekend.

It's a good time to get out and walk, run, cycle, or what ever else you do to get moving. Remember your social distancing and get outside.

One caution. There has been a high abundance of mosquitoes reported in Orange County. OC Vector Control has issued a health warning and details here on their website.

Please take a walk around your home and look for places water may be pooling and creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes. It only takes a soda cap full of water to breed mosquitoes.

And when you do go out, especially at dusk and the evening, apply repellent to your exposed skin.

Let's Celebrate! Verna Baccus Turned 90!

The Our Rossmoor Special Events Team recently had the opportunity to recognize Verna Baccus on her 90th birthday.

As resident of Rossmoor since 1963 and long standing RHA member, when Verna’s family reached out to the to us, we just had to recognize her.

Our Rossmoor Fiction Writing Contest

Stuck at home and having frightful thoughts about the corona virus?

Why not write a story about it for the Rossmoor Homeowners Association annual fiction writing contest. Or you can focus your story on a less gloomy matter. You probably have more time on your hands than you know what to do with so sit down and knock out 1,000 words. See all the rules here.

The winners will get gift certificates to local restaurants that are now open for take out or dining in. In the past, stories have focused on dogs from skid row who found a home in Rossmoor, the ghosts of World War II at a local church and tales of warm romance in our leafy neighborhood. All participants will be invited to an Our Rossmoor picnic in their honor, so you can meet some of your fellow fiction writers over lunch.

The deadline is July 1. Judging will be done by a former features editor at the Los Angeles Times and an avid book club member. Good luck.

Sweeper Ticketing To Resume Monday July 6th

Yes, the OCSD will resume ticket for parking on Rossmoor streets on Monday July 6th. Please remember to move your vehicles and trash cans from the street so we can have the gutters cleaned and help keep the mosquito population down.
