[rha ] Lee School Recognized, Foodie Festival Added, Chamber Lunch

We are past the heat! At least for the next week or so it looks like we will have very peasant mid to upper 70's for our high temperatures and our lows will sit right about 60 for the week.

Congrats to Lee & Los Alamitos Elementary

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Education named the recipients of 2021’s National Blue Ribbon School Awards.,

There were 325 elementary schools recognized nationally this year and 28 of them were in California. Two of those 28 are in our two Los Alamitos Unified School District! Both Richard Henry Lee and Los Alamitos Elementary Schools received the prestigious honor and recognition.

Los AL Chamber Heroes Luncheon

The Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce packed the Rush Park Auditorium for the 2021 Heroes Luncheon. The luncheon, to honor our Medical Frontline Workers, Members of the active, reserve, and retired Military Services, our Fire Department members, and of course the men and women serving in our terrific Police Departments and their critically important dispatch team (WestComm) also known as our 911 operators. It was a great event. Thanks to the Los Al Chamber for putting it on and the RCSD for providing the Community Center at Rush Park.

Additional Rossmoor Family Foodie Festival Added - 10/2

The RCSD has added an additional Family Foodie Festival on Saturday October 2nd at Rush Park. Like the previous Foodie events, the fun kicks off at about 2:00 p.m. with live music, creative crafts, and a carnival area. The music and fun continue until 8:00 p.m. with very popular Knyght Ryder performing from 6 to 8.

Come out and enjoy the fun and community. We hope to see you there and feel free to stop by our booth grab a candy or two and say HI!

County Housing Plan Draft

The RHA recently received the Orange County 2021-2029 Housing Element Update draft from the County Public Works Development Services group. A copy of the draft is available here.

The County has scheduled a Community Zoom meeting for Monday 9/27 and public comments are open until October 15th.

Little Free Library Project

Recently, Rossmoor resident and Girl Scout Kayla Teng created this very cool website for her Bronze Award.

Kayla has brilliantly explained how the “Little Free Library” project got started, how you can become a steward yourself, and mapped out the location of each Rossmoor library. Her website is better than many business websites I’ve seen.
