[rha ] Sweeping Update, Boston Marathon, Red Cross Blood Drive, RCSD Special Meetings

Our fall like weather will bump up to the mid-80's on Friday and Saturday before returning to the mid 70's on Sunday and into next week. Beautiful and pretty much exactly what "fall" looks like in Rossmoor.

Red Cross Blood Drive 10/20

Our monthly Rossmoor Red Cross Blood Drive is coming up on Wednesday 10/20. If you have not yet signed up to donate the gift of life and are able, please do sign up today.

Sweeping Schedule Changes: First Step Taken

On Tuesday (10/5) the Orange County Board of Supervisors passed additional funding for our street sweeping! This is the first official step toward getting alternate side sweeping in place.

A huge THANK YOU needs to be passed along to our 2nd District Supervisor Katrina Foley for getting this budget increase passed by the County Board.

The next step will be for General Manager Joe Mendoza to negotiate a street sweeping contract that will cover the alternate side sweeping and then the County Board can pass an ordinance to adjust the enforcement of the new schedule.

This is a huge step forward and the RCSD and Supervisor Foley have worked hard to get this initial step in place. THANK YOU!

Nathan Searles Completes Boston Marathon

Earlier today, our neighbor and RCSD Director Nathan Searles completed the Boston Marathon. This is a huge accomplishment as we discussed back in July when we first found out that he had qualified. His finishing time was 3:12:27 averaging 7:37 minutes per mile over the 26.2-mile course.

RCSD Schedules Special Board Meetings

The Rossmoor Community Services District (RCSD) held it's first of two special educational forums at Rush Park last Thursday.

The initial meeting provided a historical background on the District's pursuit of local control for services like Animal control, Waste Services, Law Enforcement, and Fire Authority.

There were a number of public comments and discussions regarding the potential legislation.

Given the potential significant and long-term effects of the RCSD gaining local control/latent powers, we encourage you to attend the upcoming special meeting planned to take place at Rush Park in the auditorium on:

Saturday October 16^th at 3:00 p.m.

The RCSD Board plans to have Local Control/Latent Powers on their regular board meeting agenda in November (11/9) and or December (12/14).

With COVID and the business/economic slowdown, many local area parents are going to be unable to give the gifts they would like to give their kids this holiday season.
